I live and build in America and use this stuff all the time. I always go by the metric size, it's easier for me to calculate. Until the last year, I never even saw the large print 1.76", or whatever SAE size was printed on the package. I always just look at the mm size.

Both Evergreen and Plastruct use inch units because their primary market is North America. Metric units are included to meet Canadian trade regulations as much as anything else.
I guess if there really was a demand for stock dimensioned primarily in metric a company would start producing it . . . Is there one?
