Does the intake cover on the missiles ramjet get blown off when the engine is about to start, along with the engine exhaust cover?
Thanks,
Andy

I'm thinking yes, although unsure how. This film https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=My0Xr-ITrW8 shows the intake cover still in place after the launcher is elevated and training so there is no obvious way to remove them manually once that has happened and the crew are in launch control. Maybe something mechanical releases those clips as the missile is launched using the boosters and before the ramjet fires.

I would say it is removed manually. It may not be taken off the training missiles in order to maintain sealing of the training electronics.

What color was real missile? Was it grey as depicted?
