Thanks, glad you guys enjoyed it.
The next one will be set on the Russian front and after that we hope to try one set during the first tank on tank battle during WW1.

Hi, ive started working on the russian video set in Stalingrad and i was just after some advice on the colour scheme for a boat model.
I want to have a few quick shots of some boats crossing the river but the only 1:72 boat that i could find at my local model shop was a british vosper torpedo boat and i was wondering if anyone had some ideas on paint colours that would make it look slightly more russian ?
I hope to film it mainly in close up but it would be cool to have a few wider shots also.
Thanks.

There is a resin model of a Russian armoured cutter (bronekater)
which was large motorboats armed with whatever they had handy, in this case tank turrets:
https://www.hqhobbies.com/products/mig-productions-1-72-russian-bronekater-bk-1125-resin-ship-model-72098
I haven't got the faintest idea about what kind of boats they used to cross that river but maybe they used whatever floating hulls that were easily available, small barges, largish rowing boats, whatever was available in a river port/town.
Use any kind of suitably sized boat, think 5 to 10 meters or larger and divide by 72 to get 6.9 to 13.9 centimetres. The Bronekater is 31.5 cm so it is quite large. Don't know if it is still available though ...

The Red Army used various boats there, including this type of tugboat :
Here's a preserved one in Volgograd :

Another type of boat used there (looks like the Mig one) :

Great !!! thanks for all the info.
I might try adding a t-34 turret to the front to it to give it a more russian feel.
Right now im making all the landscapes (stalingrad town square, wrecked factory street and river docks with hilly slope) so will keep an eye out for any other boats that might fit. i might try making a few simple rafts out of toothpicks too.
Will let you know how i get on.
