Guys,

I wish to model a post war Canadian M4A2E8. I have the Tamiya M4A3E8 kit, and I also have a Dragon Sherman M4A1 (76) and a Sherman Mk III. I need to switch out the upper deck grill to get to the twin diesel grills, which I have with the the M4A1 Dragon kit (which aren't used) and I need to use the diesel exhaust from the Sherman Mk III kit. Is there anything else? I also have the T-80 tracks, so that's covered.

Try Tiger Model Design, I believe they have a Cdn M4A2E8 resin upgrade that looks pretty complete.

You could also need the exhaust grilles for the M4A2E8 although many did not have them.

The T84 track is also an option.

What color do you plan to paint it? I think some were painted with a four color camo near the end of their service.

Should have said New TMD site. Look under product categories and then Cold War. Conversion is for Asuka kit but may work with Tamiya.

It should be noted that the M4A2E8 the Canadian's used in Korea were drawn from American stocks. I am not sure how many of these came back to Canada.

Cdn Sherman's used in Korea were M4A3E8's. The A2's were used only in Canada. As far as I know we didn't bring them back with us from Korea.

You are correct. Also, along with the Easy 8, we also used the M4A3 with a dozer blade too.

The new TMD set can be found here. It is designed to replace parts in the Tasca/Asuka M4A3E8 kit, so may be hard to graft onto the Tamiya one. But if you want to stay mostly plastic and use the Tamiya kit as a base, you need to change the engine deck (as you mentioned), the lower rear hull, and (if you can be bothered) the access plates underneath the hull.

The exhaust deflector can be had separately from new TMD.

The only issue then is the canvas mantlet cover, since Tamiya did not add one. I'm sure there are some AM ones out there for those who shy away from tissue & white glue...

Don't forget the grouser covers for the rear hull.

If you're on a budget this is how I made my Cdn M4A2E8. I used the M4A2 conversion from Tank workshop. it gives you the new deck plates plus rear hull plate and the dual exhausts. The New TMD grouser covers, post war exhaust deflectors and mantle cover. the one thing I forgot from New TMD was the first kit/box for the side of the hull.
