Took a few more pictures of my progress on the Pershing ..as you can see I had not received my Mantlet yet but it came in the Mail Yesterday !! The first picture is my new base forr my Pershing ...I made a base from plaster and scribed in the cobble stone..painted each brick individually...Don't worry there will be alot more rubble in the end but want to fit the tank on first to get everything right this time .

This is what the WWII Prodution tracks look like ...

did a little work on the stowage while waiting for the Mantlet ...yes I will add the brass button ..those are Hudson and Allen decals...they go down great even this close up and you can't see the film

added the P/E from Eduard for the lights the horn and the periscope guards ..I added the chain and the cap holders to the inside of the light guards

other side

I,m going to add this .50 from collectors brass it is just fitted for the picture.

and last I added a clear commanders hatch from Loon models just a little masking and this should look good ..I hope...

any comment are very welcome ...Having a great time with this kit so far...

I like the idea of the resin TC coupola. Here is something I saw in the Bible by Hunnicut.
Put small chain, from the end of the tow hook pins to about where the points of the front slope star will be.I saw photographs and drawings in the Hunnicut book of this detail.I guess the chain keeps the pins from being lost.

Hmm there seems to be different types of pins used on the front tow hooks ,but if it is possible with this type I will add them...I got some good chain for that... thanks for the comment !

He buddy,

It looks the business.. damn you have an eye for detail. I can't give you any help on the model because I don't know anything about Pershing's. But your build looks absolutely good. Keep the pics coming!!

See you

Thanks Wouter ...yes this is the first time I have really tried to go so far with a kit ..not just doing what they say on the instructions but verifying with as many pictures as possible..The Pershing is not easy to get just right because each tank seems to have something a bit different ..if it isn't the gun crutch it is final drives or something else ..I hope in the end my kit will look something like a WWII Pershing. Doing this kit has woken my interest in Allied vehicles and have put away every thing German for a while ...Who knew O.D. could be so cool ...stay tuned for more !

I was thinking about that, but looking at real pictures it is not like Russian armor ,but does have casting effect but I think Tamiya has done quite a good job rendering the effect with out going overboard...I find we do go overboard with this effect some time ..I had the chance to climb up on a real panther and other vehicles and almost killed myself because it was so slippery even dry ..since then I have pulled back on going too far with the casting ...I did do a bit along the joint in the turret .It should show more under a coat of paint .
Thanks for the comments

I've looked at this a couple times now, and I was wondering why the putty on the sides of the turret? thank you for your reply.

For the putty that is left on the back of the turret ..well the casting is really nice on this turret and if I had tried to get every little spot ,I would have lost alot of the details. What I do is add a bit of liquid glue over the putty and smooth it in with a hard bristle brush and it give the cast look back to the joint..It shows up here because of the magnication but it is really minimal .

Rick
p.s. I just reread your question and realized you were talking about the resin piece on the side...there is a bracket espesially made to hold the foul weather drivers windshield...This is it with the pouches carrying the windshields from Trakx.
