I am getting in the mood for an 88mm. The only one I've built was Tamiya's first one when it first came out. It was a good kit then but I'm sure there have been improvements Sence then.

Don't go for the Tamiya one. The dies are now 40 years old and are showing their age, despite Tamiya pimping it up with a new Afrika Korps crew to replace the 70's grotesques. A much better option is the Dragon kit 6260 if you can find it (might have to ebay it). There is also a later DML effort with the wraparound shield, but I haven't made this and don't know the code number.

FlaK 36/37: Dragon is the best one (only alternative if you want something else than Tamiyas old one)
FlaK 18: AFV-Club is the best (and only) game in town.
Dragon has two kits, one FlaK 36 with crew (6260)
and one FlaK 37 3 in 1 box (6287).
Your choice
or build all three of them including all 3 shield options of 6287

I've built all three (AFV Club, both Dragons) The 18 has the old style gun carriage with the retro wheel wells, the Dragon 36 can also build an 18 with the later style wheels, and the 36/37 has the really cool dials for the central sighting computer (Bronco makes the computer)
Each one has its charms, but I would go for the 36/37 kit if you can find it, although I think it has less goodies than the 36 (metal barrel maybe?)

The Bronco 88 FlaK 41 while I have heard complex is a different option.

The later kit, i.e. 6287, also has the goodies (unless it has been stripped in some later release ...)
From Terrys review at PMMS
"The kit contains 527 parts in the usual light grey plastic with a further eight metal parts for the barrels and gun, five turned brass 88mm rounds/shells, two short lengths of chain, three small etched frets and the decal and instruction sheets."
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6287.htm
Kit 6260 gets this description:
"The kit contains 549 parts in the usual light grey plastic with a further eight metal parts for the barrels and gun, three turned brass 88mm rounds, two short lengths of chain, two small etched frets and the decal and instruction sheets for again a very full box. Also included is 43 figures parts from the Flak Gun Crew since released as set #6275."
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6260.htm
There is also this:
"Dragon’s new kit will build the 88mm Flak 36 variant only but there are parts not used that apply to the Flak 37 so we will probable be seeing that version released at some stage and there is also the Flak 18 barrel included to use an a alternative although the Flak 18 gun itself was a very different beast than the Flak 36."
It is possible to build a FlaK 36 using the barrel from FlaK 18 but this doesn't make it a FlaK 18, just a 36 with a different barrel.
AFV-Club Flak 18
"The kit contains 367 parts in olive drab plastic with four metal parts for the barrel and cylinders, two short lengths of chain, an etched fret with twenty five parts plus six rubber tyres plus the decal and instruction sheets."

I built the Dragon one with the crew a few years back and for the money it was probably one of the best (if not THE best)value AFV kit I have ever bought. Incredible details and everything fit perfectly and with metal main barrels too (2 x options). Perhaps the purists may say it has 'issues' but unless you built the things in the factory or fired them in action every day for 6 years, it looks like a superb 88mm Flak replica to me!

If you're looking for a real nasty-looking PaK 88 there's this one from Trumpeter: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LAGEkC7ZmHU/TYgIbr0P2DI/AAAAAAAAAAU/zEaBtVUv5Ro/s1600/IMG_4283.jpg
It's a well-done kit, but no gun crew which is a good thing because Trumpeter makes terrible (usually) figures.

To summarize it all -- it depends if you want an AA dual-purpose gun or a dedicated AT gun (PAK)
Flak 18: AFV Club 35088
Flak 36: DML 6260 (like Robin said above, you cannot build a Flak 18 out of this kit)
Flak 37: DML 6287
Flak 41: Bronco 35114
Pak 43/41: AFV Club (35059)
Pak 43: by Trumpeter (02308)
88mm Flak 37 mit Behelfslafette DML (6523)
There are several self propelled versions too:
Trumpeter 8.8cm FlaK 18 Selbstfahrlafette "Bunkerknacker" (01585)
Bronco Versuchsflakwagen 8.8cm Flak 37auf Sonderfahrgestell (35174)
Bronco Versuchsflakwagen 8.8cm Flak 41 auf Sonderfahrgestell (35062)
DML 8.8cm Flak 36 on Pz IV (6829)
DML 8.8cm Flak 37 on Pz IV (6667)
There's another ersatz DML 8.8cm PAK (made from a Jagdpanther gun & mantlet) -- don't remember its name.
Also there are some rare Waffentrager 8.8cm Pak 41 by Trumpeter too.

Thank you all. Looks like the choices are all improved from the original Tamiya kit. I think I will go after the Dragon 36/37
