The Nationals this past Spring was pretty good..I kicked myself for not going the whole time (just went Saturday)
Armorcon has been shrinking the past 5 years or so. I didn't go last year (wanted to get my hobby room setup since I just moved back then) but I'm taking a trip up Friday (I have off work anyways) just to check it out and talk to people I haven't seen in awhile.

Work obligations kept me from going to the Nationals back in April, which was a tough pill to swallow since this is the only Nationals I know that I actually had a chance of attending. It took me several years to even find the time to get to my first Armorcon a few years back. With luck, I may actually get there this time... or not. Life is what happens when you're making your modeling plans.

Age and distance is my enemy now when attending contest. Things need to be closer to Florida. Last time I won anything at an Armorcon that was close to gold was probably late 80's/early 90's? See! Now there goes the memory!

Looking forward to seeing all the people from Armorama that I met at the nationals again, and I hope to meet more of you guys this weekend! Maybe some of you guys would like to meet and do a judging shift together, kind of a fun way to meet someone new?

I'll be there, but it's just a few hrs down the road from the PRV (People's Republic of Vermont)
I'm bringing the Meng pickup with Live Resin Mg goodness, instead of my usual shelf queens. I might even get a base done for it.
Looking forward to connecting some more faces to Armorama handles.

Sean,
Thanks, it's really easy stuff.
I used the washable dust paint from Ammo by Mig sprayed halfway downwards over the body (not worried about overspray) and then 1-2 min later dragged downwards with a barely damp wide flat brush. Dust a little lighter colored pigment over it for tone variation and boom!
Took longer to clean the airbrush than to do.
See you there?
Mike

Bringing the whole troop with me so another interesting couple days of splitting my time between chasing kids and trying to enjoy myself. Hope Fridays paychecks a winner because i NEVER go home empty handed. Nats were great, but Armorcon is just.... home!

Wow, was there last year, and the vendor room was full. Maybe it is a little "hangover" from the National's that was there in the spring? The show at Danbury is usually very good.

I'm here now,for sure the vendor room is a disappointment, very sparce.Their saying it's because it's the third show here in a year. But there are some great builds, also taking in a seminar, and catching up with forum buddies. And I am saving some money for a change.

I just got home...
If you went to this show for the vendors, you were probably disappointed, but I found a few things I was looking for. I heard there were several vendors who were supposed to be there that couldn't make it.
I agree with what Anthony mentioned, the models were sparse, but I know that I can't make that many kits in one year, and I got the feeling that's what happened.
What WAS worth the trip, (it's 2 hours for me also) was seeing all the friends Iv'e made at these shows again, and making new ones. I can get kits anytime, but to see friends and talking about models for a couple of days is priceless!
By the way Lou, the Nats were there in April of this year, not 2016.
Got to see Mikes pickup, and its even better in person!

I didn't ask at the show, and didn't pay attention, but how could a person contact the vendors at these shows?
Posted: Saturday, September 23, 2017 - 05:59 AM UTC
It is a shame to hear it did not go very well. I really enjoy that show, it is not that far of a drive (7 hours). But I also have to look at the cost, I am going to Dayton in the Spring (11 hour drive), but that will be worth it.
