Anyone know of any add on weapons systems for the Trumpeter M1117?
Looking for a remote control station.
Legend makes one but apparently it may not fit?
Thanks,

What I have looked at, or asked questions about is first the AFV AS35157 M151 Remote Weapons station. It was on cheap at the LHS, so I grabbed it.
The one I wish would work was Live Resin LRE-35180 Remote Control Weapons station, supposedly that one will not fit, sadly.
Any other suggestions, or known weapons that would work on it?

Also found this, Formations - Nr. F128 - 1:35.
Any input would be appreciated.

Rich, are you looking to build a real vehicle or a hypothetical one? If hypothetical then anything goes. The ASV comes in different configurations. I’ve never seen one with a remote weapons station. Unless what you’re looking to add has a turret ring the same size as the M1117 you are going to need to do some surgery. The hole in the roof of Trumpeter’s ASV is smaller than the hole in the roof of any HMMWV kit but can very easily be enlarged. Yaroslav from Live Resin said a while back they were getting ready to release a series of CROWS II sets that would work for applications from the HMMWV to the Abrams. You can also use the hatch and CROWS II from one of Bronco’s HMMWV kits. Any way you look at it you need to add some sort of hatch and a base for the RWS. the conversion would be a piece of cake if you can enlarge a round hole.

Thanks for the answer.
Looking at the new M1117 the Canadian's are getting and the only info I have is they will have remote weapons stations.
They are just going into service. Apparently they were driving around a BC city as training but had no weapons system, only the IED antennas, I did not see the front end part, that flag looking thing.
So I was hoping a remote system would be available.
Smaller hatch is the issue?

The Textron TAPV (Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle) as used by the Canadian Army is based on the M1117 ASV, but it's not the same...

Yea, I did not know the differences were that pronounced.
You know anyone who makes that kit or is it still to early?

Richard, the TAPV would have to be an entirely new kit so it wouldn't be easy for Trumpeter to modify the ASV M1117. The TAPV is not yet covered by anyone. They exist in very small numbers so far so the interest level might not be there. I'd buy one if they were. It is an amazing looking vehicle.

Thank you for the post.
More detail than on the Canadian Army site, I will look at the article later.
That remote weapon looks good, anyone have an idea what it is?

Richard, the RWS is a version of the Protector RWS that doesn't have the armor shields installed and has a mount for a secondary weapon on the side of the yoke. I am not on my computer right now so I can't search very well but I found info about it on the Kongsberg website some time ago.

Thanks Eric that helps, will look into it and post what I find. Well it turns out the M151 by AFV is a Protector (RWS) basic model with the option of making either a Mk.2 .50cal or a Mk.19 40mm grenade launcher, now on the box it also shows two assault rifles.
So the TAPV is supposed to be able to fit any Protector series on it, but it also fits on the Stryker vehicles and Canada has some of those.
The US is using the M1117 so I guess I will be building a US version sometime in the future.

The TAPV that is coming in service has 2 versions, one with the RWS, and one without called the Utility version.
The RWS is based on the M151 Protector. The weapon system is called the Dual Remote Weapon System, and can mount both a C6 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun and a HK GMG 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
There is a new Reference DVD available that is full of information and detailed photos.
Available from myself , if a copy is wanted, just message me.

The Formations set is to convert the Trumpeter kit into the M1200 Armored Knight Fire Control/Target Acquisition Vehicle. That is a legit US fielded variant. Here's some info about the M1117 and M1200 at my Warwheels website.
