Hello model maker
Imagine another vehicle of the Soviet Army at the time of the Cold War. It is the vehicle GAZ-69 DIM. This vehicle was used in the Soviet units as mine search vehicle. Mainly the vehicle was used in the pioneer units. In the late 1970s, the vehicle was replaced by the vehicle UAZ -469. Whether these vehicles are still in the inventory of the Russian army, I can not say. But I have often seen these vehicles in troop relocations. Since it is an interesting model for me, I present it here in the forum. For the people who do not know the vehicle and can not start with the model, first photos of the original.

Yes, it will be an interesting model. I think this vehicle was also in the Bulgarian army, so it would be something for you. The original kit from BRONCO is very good. Everything else has to be done in Skratch itself. But we are model makers, Will parallel to this topic here two other vehicles present. These are Trumpeter's AT-T vehicles in different variants and MiniArt's T-54B, an IMR-1 version. I reply to pending questions. Here are photos of the start of construction. Detail photos of the original will follow.

Looking really the part!
I'm sure we had the later model(DIM-M) on the later model(UAZ-469).

Yes, Angel Yovtchev, this vehicle was in the Bulgarian army based on UAZ-469, but I think it was used in this amee before the variant on GAZ-69. Another army of the Warsaw Pact did not have this vehicle in my opinion. thanks again for the picture.

Hello Robin, now what about your question. I have been waiting for this question. The second steering wheel was present for the surgeon. This means that the surgeon was able to steer the frame in the appropriate direction. If a metal object was registered while driving through a section of terrain, the vehicle stopped automatically and the air was defused by the soldiers. But I will come to this topic later and show it on the model as well. Here is a picture of the original with the two steering wheels.

What is the reason for the second steering wheel?

Quiz:
Second steering wheel serves as:
1.Spare steering(in case driver gets killed by mine blast or original steering wheel brakes down)...
2.Decoy to lure right-hand-drivers(UK, Commonwealth,Sweden-till 1967,Japan,Cyprus e.t.c.) to activate booby trap below passenger seat...
3.Steering for the mine "search and locate" bar infront of the vehicle.
Right answer is...
3!

Today the pictures of the finished model. The pictures represent the production of the work in the transport position of the working device. The folding up of the device was carried out by means of a winch. This winch was on the bumper and was operated manually. Here are these pictures.
