They are really nice...i can see some GI use them as a table,some beers and a game of Poker...

Throughout my military career, that's exactly what we did with them. The size of the dorm room determined the size of the spool most times. They were used of course as a 'drinking station', dinner table, card table, hobby table (to include car parts), spray paint table (the first examples of the tie dye look), and yes, even whoopy! We would nail license plates to them, staple pics of foreign adventures/girls, nail cheaply made challenge coins, beer bottle caps, got carved on, small car parts got nailed to them, etc. When the G.I. could afford a home, then the spool got larger. Some ingenious guys even made lamp tables/furniture out of them. You name it, you would probably see it on these spools.
