Hi

Here are some pics of my Panzer IV after applying pastels - last thing to do: spray some flat lacquer - this will tone down the rather stark effect seen in the pics (I hope...)

Overview:

Numbers were quite white initialy...
Clear decal film is not visible in real life

The groundwork which will house the tank:

I like it - I assume you did an oil wash before your pastels..? Could you post how you do your final sealer coat as the one I tried simply washed off the pastels into a gooey mess around the tracks and skirts
Next time I'd like to try Games Workshop purity spray - which is an aerosol acrylic designed to protect wargames figures that are being handled - should be strong enough for our uses - Any ideas..?

I intend to use several very light coats of Testors Dullcoat, airburshed on almost dry

the model was coated with Future first - after that dried, it was washed several times, then drybrushed with lightened base colour

not bad for a first try, right?

Very nice work. I really like the camo on the panzer. Not to heavy.
My only oberservation, is with the barrle pointing down so low, it looks to be a abandoned /destroyed vehicle. (Just my judgement from seeing many photos of knocked out tanks with barrels pointing down).

Cool panzer Sidney.

Or the most likely effect will be to remove all signs of your pastel work. I would dull cote it anyway and add some pastels again after fixing your panzer to its base. Having the same dusty effect on both will tie them together better.
I like your weathering and the camo faded is excellent. The battered up and nicely weathered side skirts look great except they are very clean on the inside. Personally, I would take them off and weather them before fixing in place.
The base is another stunner. The brush looks fantastic. The two corner trees are poor in comparison as there hardly any branches or shapes. If no better trees are available, I would do without them. Some broken brush where the tank has just driven over would be a nice effect here.
Just some thoughts or throwing my opinions in the mix. None of which take away from your work. Just trying to help!

Looks good, you may want to weather the inside of the skirting. It would get a lot of dirt and mud stuck to it. The base looks good as well.

thanks guys

agree: skirts must be soiled, pronto

the barrel is still movable (a bit), as I am still handling the complete turret, I will glue it in place at the last moment

when I sprayed the brown camo-lines, they came out more purple than brown, so the brown you see here... is actually pastel...

I think the base needs more of those branches - although... I have been studying the 'forrest' I run accros (running is another deviation of mine) - they are this wide apart...

ground will be covered with fallen leaves btw - 'trees' look better in the flesh... hmm, will decide on these later I guess

Don't forget Sidney that when people look at your diorama they will comment based on what they think the real thing looks like. So yes you should have a few more branches 'cos it look more 'real' than real life... Crazy I know
BTW Thanks for the advice on the fine coats of sealer - that's where I'm going wrong

I normally build aircraft, so this would be the first time for me

after what I read on the internet (on here ) it should work - just don't flood it

Looking better every time I see your kit. Well done. My big question is; how come no Balkankreuz ? or unit insignia ?

Your diorama base looks good too. Are you planning to do any figures with it ? I saw you had a Dragon one from the "Ambush at Poteau" set.

Keep up the great work !

Greetz !

they weren't in the instructions... I don't care too much about that, I am buidling this one as a break from 'correct' aircraft models

with this one, it is the look that counts!

figures are almost ready - couple of hands and some gear, and I want to redo the eyes on a few...

after taking the pictures, I decided to experiment a little bit: I put some turpentine and oil paint in my airbrush and sprayed it on lightly and from a distance, this tied everyhing together quite nicely!

now, wheres that plexiglass for the cover

I like both, the ground work and the tank.... flat laqueur will surely do the job, i use plain simple hair-spray for that.... it "flattens" the pastels.

very good work man!

This is a nice effort and a fairly good build. Since your tank is enough weathered which means it has been a fighting one and a used ine i bet that the exhaust should be more rusted coloured to show the time that has passed from when it was brand new.Nice work there on everything else. Congratulations
