My inner historian is intrigued by this photo spread of a Nike SAM missile. I am lucky enough to work at a school in close proximity to the "premiere" US Nike site in Northern Virginia, site W-64 in Lorton. Although the site itself has been neglected over the years, it has received "national historic site" status so the area will be protected from future development. The site that remains is the launcher and missile assembly portion of the complex; further afield where the control area and HIPAR radar array was located the grounds have been assimilated into a newly-developed public High School.
Where is this particular collection of odd bits located?
Thanks for sharing the photos!

It´s called Museum für Militär- und Zeitgeschichte Stammheim. It´s located a few miles south of Schweinfurt, Bavaria. They build a certain reputaion for making historical reeactment events. This year that had a nice 3-day meeting of Kettenkrad owners.

If any of you ever find yourselves visiting San Francisco, you can get a tour of the only restored Nike facility in the USA, SF-88. Very scenic location too.
