I sure hope we get more then one version. I was a driver on an M551A1 in the late 70s. the only real difference was the laser range finder in the TC cupola and a different gun shield on the TCs 50 cal. I would love to build a better kit of the Sheridan I drove then the one I built with the old Tamiya kit.

The Sheridan was still in the learning curve when shipped to RVN. They did an armor upgrade soon after. Yet the over heating issue was fixed in due time. I saw at least two different gun shields, and remember seeing a couple with no shielding. Some of the boxes used for the missile were removed
(Where and when ?)
Looking at the turret one can't tell much about the shape. Its a mixture of compound curves.

If you look closely at the photo, it looks like the later style coupula on the second model (lower and to the right) in the photo. I hope they give us the option of both types in the same kit rather than breaking them up into two different kits, but I'm just glad we have a new M551 coming! But I also notice it looks like they have some of the components mixed up between the two models, namely the "brush screen" on the second model, which I think belongs on the upper left model.

Lower right model also appears to have a canvas cover over the searchlight

One of the models on display is based on this 1:1 one (including markings) :
Both "Hard Core 7" and ""Canary Cage" marking options were already included in Academy Sheridan kit...
Another view of the new Tamiya offering :

Yes-- that's interesting-- it's a better view of the turret for sure, and shows the "fold down" armor panels on the forward part of the coupola which would be seen on the later Sheridan. The question is, can this be combined with the "flat" armor found at the rear of the Sheridan turret pictured above to give a complete later version "teacup" (that's what we called it in the 2/11 ACR when I was there in 1976)? I'm hoping so-- it looks like it comes with several other accessories like the searchlight too. The other photo of the turret shows the same thing with a larger gun shield ("Vietnam era") in front of it. I guess we'll find out. Wonder what the cost will be?

Woah - throwing away that much valuable aluminum to make a reef? Seems kinda criminal...
Can't wait to see the reviews of this new kit, as I still have one of those flawed Academy kits in the stash.

With all the vehicles that used them, including this one, I wish a company would release a brass replacement barrel for the .50 cal that included the conical flash hider. It's not that complicated a shape if you leave the retaining bolts separate. There are a TON of kits that they could be used with. I would be in for at least 8 or 10.

Here is one of the accessories I'm preparing for this kit, it will be available in a few days. Other accessories will include the correct parts that looks oversized in the kit. Most surely that all of them will include C-ration boxes for free.

Wow, that was fast. And it looks nice as well. And my fairly extensive VISMOD walk arounds have been sent to the right folks as well. It's out of my hands now.

Those look great Federico, that is exactly the version I was hoping to depict! I was always wondering what the .50 mount looked like, is that some sort of naval mount, maybe from navy river boat?

I guess so. All the needed parts appear to be included (like the searchlight, the early style turret stowage rack or the TC position armor plates...)

Hi James. I'm afraid that nobody stocks the FCmodeltips range in the USA. But you can order directly from www.fcmodeltrend.com as many fellows are doing.

Well that flushes it down the toilet for me, NOTHING turns me off a kit faster than L+L or Indi-link Tracks.
The only way I`ll take those suckers on is if it`s a tank I really want - step up the T-14 and T-15 Armata.
