That's an insane offering. I have seen pictures if this set up and I'm wondering how the truck could manage all the weight I haven't built HBs M3A1 kit, I've heard mixed reviews. I am unfamiliar with the cart and the 122mm gun kits. Thanks for sharing

The weight of the gun is carried by the wheels of the gun and the gun limber. Some weight might be taken by the pintle on the M3A1 but it is mostly about pulling. Braking could be an issue if the gun doesn't have wheel brakes.
When it comes to pulling things like artillery it is mostly a matter of horse power:

This happens to be a German sFH 18 but the principle is the same

Berlin 1945....

As Robin says the forward weight of the gun trails is carried by the limber and not by the vehicle hitch.

All the towing vehicle has to do is be powerful enough to pull it.

M3A1 - I am guessing is to be a lend/lease item pulling a Russian gun and Limber.

If you don't care for the HobbyBoss M3 I suggest you return to the old Peerless molds (still available thru some Russian companies).

Add some current technology after market gas or water cans, maybe some new pioneer tools and a slide mold 50 cal. - you will have an extremely respectable model for your efforts! I wouldn't even bother upgrading with AM resin tires unless you just wanted to add snow chains.

Or you can just wait for the newly announced Tamiya M3A1 offering with a Russian crew! It was announced at the same time as the new M551. As to the towing, it's really the breaking that matters.

Anyone happen to have a 1/35th resin or plastic canvas top for the M3A1 that you would care to part with? $$$ Please IM me.

I had another project going that could use part of the top and I cobbled up the only one I had so now my M3 is getting rained on!

Are you trying to bate me with that Mack NO comment???

.

Just kidding - I got mine (1/35th scale) but I certainly wish some manufacture would give us something besides the HST to pull the 155mm and 8 inch guns!

If interested in the Mack you might want to check out the following link:
