Going on a trip to China next week, I wonder what hobby shops could be recommended in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
Any suggestions?

As for Hong-Kong, you could probably visit Hobbyeasy. Apparently it's possible to purchase models direcly at their headquarters: http://www.kiwimodeller.com/index.php/forum/13-general-modelling/32192-visit-to-hobby-easy
Besides, there are plenty of other options too (keep in mind though that this thread is very old, some of the shops might not exist anymore): https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/asia-north-east-asia/topics/plastic-kit-modelling-shops-in-hong-kong

Not sure about Beijing and Shanghai, but for HK, these are your best choices:
1) UML. Only one (tiny) shop left on 33 Kwong Wa Street. Specializes in Dragon, but also sells Zvezda, Italeri and Miniart. DO NOT buy Tamiya here. Price is better elsewhere. But there's a nice discount corner that's worth checking out.
2) Wang Kee. (On 35 Waterloo road) Huuuge selection of Trumpeter and Hobby Boss upstairs. Also sells Italeri, Tamiya and Hasegawa downstairs. Price is reasonable.
3) Continental. (Tucked behind Wing On Department store on Nathan Road). Sells Takom, Meng, AFV club, Bronco, Miniart, kitty hawk, etc. No Tamiya here. (Note: very cramped here, and boxes are stacked in towers.)
4) Ying Ming/Wai Le. (One in 135 Sai Yee Street, one in 315 Sha Tsui Road, and one in Wan Chai Road.) Same stores with different names. Sells mostly Academy, Hasegawa, ICM and Tamiya.
Good luck and happy shopping!

when I went they emptying boxes with the new arrivals and a couple of towers were more 'pillars from floor to ceiling, I'm skinny but I almost stuck between the boxes, the first lap I did with the backpack on my shoulder ... serious mistake ... I almost caused a catastrophic earthquake ... however I personally found Continental better than UML for my taste (the UML on 33 Kwong Wa St)

Hi all,
thanks a lot for your help. Interestingly, I've already shopped at Continental's when I was in HK for the first time in 1994!
Greetings, Peter

You could go to RX88 for lucky model stuff and Fat frog models for Hobbyeasy's they have business relations of some sort. Fat frog stocks less kits more aftermarket though.

Along with the old timers Twinners, Sunny, Wangkee, Ying Ming.
All the above in the Mongkok area.
Wai Le is in the Wanchai district towards causeway bay/ Times square.
