I got into a....."discussion".....with a guy on a non-military/non-modelling site who said something along the lines of "The Soviets...almost exclusively supplied with Ford and Studebaker trucks..." I told him I didn't think that was right, and that the vast majority of trucks were Russian-made. Now I know GAZ made licensed copies of Fords, but they were all MADE in the U.S.S.R., were they not? And I know Russia was supplied with a great deal of materiel (from The U.S., Britain and Commonwealth nations). I would DEARLY love to slap this guy with facts and figures; does anyone know where I could find the info (free on the net please) to do that? I've Googled but had no luck so far.

It provides numbers on the deliveries and in a few cases also percentages for delivered vs domestic production.
"The United States delivered to the Soviet Union from October 1, 1941 to May 31, 1945 the following: 427,284 trucks, ...."
After that I suggest hitting this article about the ZiS-5 and ZiS-6V. Evolved from copies of a FIAT truck ...

but they had 102000 already when the war started and probably lost a lot of them in the initial phases of the war.

When NIkita Khrushchev was assigned the responsibility of organizing the 1945 victory parade in Moscow, he had to scramble to find enough Russian-made trucks for the troops. For Stalin, it was a matter of national pride that the Soviet Union won the war without significant foreign help.
One reason the Soviets were able to produce so many SU-76 assault guns was that the factories were not tied up building trucks.

At least 3/5 of all Soviet motor transport in World War II was Lend-lease.
They didn't just get Studebaker and Ford but also GM and other manufacturers. They also got thousands of Jeeps including Bantam made ones.
One historian noted that a Soviet soldier could have an American made uniform, be eating Spam and riding in a Studebaker truck. That's how extensive Lend-lease was.
