For the Italian Campaign build I was thinking of building this
https://ww2db.com/image.php?image_id=6817
with the Tamiya kit.

It appears the tire needs to changed out with Def Model DW30038, is that correct?
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/982246-def-model-dw30038-k-bel-schwimmwagen-wheel-set-2
I had an old Jaguar set but I don't that will work.

Seems like the windshield glass is missing and the no notek light. Paint would be standard German Grey? Any other details I might be over looking?

I thinking of adding the Tamiya jeep driver for a figure. Is that the correct the figure to use for time and place? Any better ideas for a driver and/or another GI standing next to the vehicle? What would be appropriate an head to use for the figures?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Base paint would be Dunkelgelb at the time this photo was taken.

Hi, dunkelgelb is correct for the rime frame but I think this schwimm is darker. It is possible this is overpainted in olive drab.

The jeep driver should be ok but these are Japanese Americans so you will need to swap the head.check one of the Miniart or Finemolds sets for a head and fit a US M1 helmwt from the kit.

WOW Henri!

(I have a couple of unpublished "swim wagon in Allied service" photos but they will have to wait a couple of days to publish - till after the Holiday - as I have to scan them.)

Hi Ryan

I posted this in the Italian build thread too

Here is a somewhat clearer picture:

Look closely at the upward point of the star on the side. You can still see the original data information placard. This indicates only the stars were painted on the original Dunkelgelb.

Most Resin replacement wheels for the Scwimmwagen are the wider off road pattern. You are better off looking at basic Kubelwagen wheels as they have the narrow profile in the pic. e.g. Hussars set seems to be the right pattern with a more noticeable chevron type pattern than the DEF ones have:

I have a few sets of Hussar wheels and they are very good fit and do not have blemishes or air bubbles like some others I have acquired.

For heads consider Hornet HH07. These are bare heads that you could cover with a helmet suitably modified by hollowing it out or cutting off the top of the head to fit the helmet.

I hope this helps.

Not the same tread pattern Dan. They are 'zig zag' type not 'chevron' type treads and have wide grooves cut through them making separate chunks of tread.
