I’m almost set to paint a T-34/85 but i want to do it in East German markings. What paint modulation should i use for this, i was going to use the Vallejo Russian green modulation but then i saw that they also have a modern Russian green modulation as well. I’m looking to make this look like a late 1950s wht if diorama. Any help is much appreciated

I believe the NVA used a green that was slightly lighter than the other Warsaw Pact armies.

I believe the NVA used a green akin to the Revell enamel range of 67 - "Greenish Grey".
That said, I imagine in the early days the NVA used T34s as they were issued ie in Soviet green however, once they had had established themselves, then it would have been the grey/green colour as above. I am not sure though, when that would have been.
As a "What If" of course, it may not matter too much - the joys of "What If" - which is why my MBT 70 is resplendent (well to me) in the MASSTER scheme!

Don't look any further then Revell 67, it's spot on.
T-34/85(&76) who were sold, for top price, to the DDR were actually worn out and needed a major overhaul in the 'werkstatte'.
HTH,
Sam.

As I'm doing a T-72M in NVA colours for the MBT campaign, I've been trying to figure this myself. Revell indeed recommends 67 for DDR vehicles
This SPW-40 is in Revell 67, looking too grey compared to vehicles in the Munster tank museum. The DDR colour is "Chlorbunagrün" - very close to RAL 6003 but somewhat darker. Revell reckons its 361 is RAL 6003
and this D-30 is in Revell 361. Certainly closer to the museum vehicles in colour.
Various colour comparison charts have:
RAL 6003 = Humbrol 117 = Testor1713
Revell 67 = Humbrol 116 = Testor 1710
and
Revell 361 = HUmbrol 105 = Testor 1712
For some reason everything I want to build and paint, in Dunkelgelb, olive drab and now Chlorbunagrün becomes an exercise in frustration.

In my memory (suspect on the best of days) of my trek through the DDR after the wall came down, Revell 67 is indeed spot on. I've used it before and been happy with it.

Duh...😁...Thank you. I lived in Germany for 12 years and remember them talking about the DDR Volks Armee. I always equated NVA with North Vietnamese Army. 😁
