Greetings, long time without posting ^^ I just bought an Alan SU-76M for a very low price... I know, I know, you must be thinking: "Straight to te bin and get Tamiya/Miniart", but I'll give it a try. I already downloaded a lot of pics, but there is something that still bothers me: The Zis-3'recoil system cover. I'd like to know if it has weld lines on it, all I know is that it has a lid on the underside. Walkaround pics doesn't help as they are all taken from ground level and I need to see the top side of the cover. Thanks a lot in advance and Happy New Year (still 10:38 am here). Best regards.

José.

I'll leave this up to you to decide, as Museum pieces often have non-original components:
From Kagero Top shots 38. This One has a weld seam along the top centre and bottom centre

but this pic from Wydawnicto Militaria 260 seems to support well...err.. a seam on the bottom...

And this one may have faint evidence of a seam on the top - sorry not a good quality photo

Previous prototypes did have a seam on top

Building the old Alan kit.... keep plenty of Aspirin and maybe some Valium on hand

Jose,

Two pictures I took last year of the Bulgarian Pz.IV/SU-76 gun hybrid Peter mentioned in his last post:

Weld lines are present top and bottom.

The vehicle is currently on display at Yambol's Museum of Battle Glory.

If it had a weld line on the underside, it has to have at least one on the upper side, because the part is made of two pieces welded together.
