Hi,
What is the best 1/35 T-55 to build the Libya black rebel T-55?

Hi
Mike,
My problem is because of the large quantity of T-55 versions.

You can either buy the Tamiya T-55A, or the Takom T-55A 3-in-1.
They differ in level of detail.

Go Takom (several versions available - nice, detailed, but complex and parts-rich kits) or the MiniArt route (also detailed, complex, parts-rich).
Skip the Tamiya kits - unless you are willing to either do some fill-and-sand work on the wheels, or source and use some alternative wheel set... Tamiya alas made sunken grooves on the wheels instead of molding on the correct "proud" ribs or either skipping this detail altogether (which, BTW, would be OK, as the real rubber tires have very small ribs and these are often simply rubbed-off or otherwise rendered invisible by crud and wear). To use tamiya's wheels, the grooves must be filled in - and, if desired, ribs added.
As for which kit... The details maybe matter... T-55 were made in Russia, Poland, and Czechoslovakia over many years. There are differences in rear-decks and a few other things between manufacturers and over time, so... if you want accuracy at that level, you need to see pics of the decks on your subject to select the right kit. There are also, of course, turret and hull details - cupola mounts, sights, fittings, etc. which might be specific to the tank-of-interest, and the various kits offer considerable option and variety in these things, to, so...
I have built a Takom -55 AMV... lots of good stuff and very nice molding and details - lots of work. But I really enjoyed it, so... I hope to get one of the MiniArt -55 kits, as I like MA's kits in general, but have no MA -55 experience to comment from.
PS: I'm an old Tamiya fan. The T has done a lot of fine kits and the build is usually a good experience. Not as detailed as modern kits are, but very well molded and engineered. Sadly, T goofed on the wheels, but otherwise it's an OK kit to build from.

That Libyan Rebel T-55 looks like it could be a Czechoslovakian built.

From reading the title, I thought you were looking for references on the APC based on a T 55 chassis, with BTR turret. Nice find on this particular vehicle. Thanks to those who came to the party with images, too.

You should check out this book too. There is a modeler featured there that built a T-55 like the one you are looking for. Take note of the cover.

It also comes with a small decal sheet that has those markings.

Agree. A common feature of Czech built T-55's is the attachment of a stowage box to the forward hand hold on the left side of the turret :
According to this site https://www.armedconflicts.com/CZK-T-55-t29717, Libya received more than 1000 T-55's from Czechoslovakia between 1970 and 1976.
