The last remaining M4 C2V is on display at Ft. Steward, GA. Maybe someone in the States can go there and take some pictures for us? Robert Skipper, do you read?

Why don’t they make a new JS-3?

I have been waiting on the C2V. I saw them during the invasion of Iraq w/3ID. They were pretty cool.

I might be able to help on pics of it at Stewart and in service. If I get them I’ll let you all know.

Why was the program ultimately cancelled? It seems the 577 would be somewhat overdue for replacement.

Funny. I was all over this vehicle and gave Trumpeter all kinds of information. Their original test build had many incorrect details. I think it was based on photos taken far away that did not show panel lines, the roof, etc. I expect they corrected the errors with what I gave them. Somehow I would have thought I would have been in the loop on this.

The biggest issue is that you could not move between the cab and the command and control pod without exiting and going outside. It kind of defeated the armored aspect of the vehicle. They were also very expensive.
The new Bradley Command Post Vehicle fits the bill perfectly.

And just a couple of weeks ago I was talking to General Blount. I told him about this model, etc. He seemed to recall just two M4s. I recall three. I need to find my files now. I wonder what the decal options will be besides Maximus.

In checking my stuff 3rd ID had three M4s for OIF1. El Cid, Maximus, and Zeus. And 1st AD had them too. It will be interesting to see what the marking options are for the kit.
Here's a pic of the rear.

Yup, it was 3. I believe 1 AD used the same 3 M4 C2Vs as 3 ID. They were transferred to 1 AD when they replaced 3 ID.

What a cool beast; the fans of modern armour will be thrilled. Never realized how big they were until now. Sort of like a Winnebago on tracks and the inability to enter the rear compartment from the driver's compartment would be a real sticking point.

Remember Robert that I told you one of these was here at Ft. Sam Houston. I need to check to see if it still there.

It would be nice to compare if there are any differences in detail. It would also be good to know if that vehicle is a test vehicle (I know the OIF vehicles themselves were part of a test program to begin with) which had many different details than those used on deployment.

I don't actually care that production was never purchased: that thing is so cool looking! Hoping sometime soon we get to see that Bradley command vehicle too - and all the other variants from that program.

It figures. I went and built one of these from scratch (well, sort of), and now Trumpeter comes out with one.

It's cool that they're coming out with the M4.
My question is with the MLRS... Do we know if it's going to be all new tooling or is it a re-pop of the ancient DML kit?

Jeff,
Trumpeters MLRS's are all new with better and more correct detail than the Dragon kit.
Finland MLRS
USA MLRS

Look at what I took pictures of today at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Couldn't get pictures of the top. Will probably go back with a ladder to see what it looks like on top.

Pete, in comparing your photos of this ambulance variant, which I never saw before, there are only a few differences. The left rear is a little different with the panels, and the rear is different a bit.
Was this ambulance variant ever used?

It's the C2V-based candidate for the Armored Medical Treatment Vehicle (AMTV) program. Three prototypes were built in the 90's :
"The AMTV had a central position for treating a litter patient inside the vehicle while on the move with room for medical treatment providers to work on either side of the litter. The AMTV could carry four litter patients in addition to the medical crew when the vehicle displaced to maintain contact with the supported unit.
The M4 C2V development program was canceled in 1999 when the Army shifted to a lighter Stryker-based platform resulting in the development of the M1133 Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle for fielding in Stryker equipped units."

Here's a (prototype ?) M4 C2V in NATO camo :
and a OIF picture showing "El Cid" :
Here it is parked between "Zeus" and "Maximus" :
