Hi all,
i saw this video (see below) and i thought it would be a wonderful idea for a diorama so i was wondering which kit would be better, the Tamiya SU 152 or the Trumpeter one?
Does either kit possess an engine and if not what engine could i use, perhaps a T-34? or ar there any after market ones available?

It depends on how accurate you want it to be for a particular period. The one from Trumpeter has some post-WWII modifications such as roadwheel hub caps etc. Tamiya kit is just the thing for late WWII era.

If your looking to replicate the one in that video, the Trumpeter ISU-152K is a match for it.
Its a good kit, just missing a few details herr and there. Weld seams on the bow, and thebbrush guards for the headlights being the most obvious.

Hi;
There are kits that you can use for the engine; But you would have to Buy another kit and Rob the engine. The Trumpeter Type-89 Anti/tank gun kit offers the basic engine & transmission, and you would have to scratch build the other details that are present in the engine compartment !
The Trumpeter Type-89 is the Modern Chinese anti/tank gun vehicle which they released some time ago, and still can be found on ebay !!
CHEERS; MIKE.

What about the two Bronco offerings.
They are SU, not ISU type(s) and, as such, are based on KV, not IS/JS chassis.

As Rob Langer says if you wish to do the vehicle in video the Trumpeter JSU-152K is the only kit you can use. The one in video is an ISU-152K post war version. For the engine you would need a T-54 engine, Miniart do an engine you could adapt. Not sure if anyone does a suitable transmission?

guys i really appreciate the help you are giving as russian armour isn't my strong suit. does anyone know how many parts are involved with the trumpeter "K" version, i was hoping for an easy build and a chance to experiment with some mig products.
as for the engine, thanks for the heads up on that, i will look into it and get one from the internet, unless anyone has one spare that they don't need?

I've just ordered one from eBay, the "K" version as well as the T54 engine.
what I need now is to know how to grab pictures from a YouTube video.

Here's your intel on the kits. http://www.4bogreen.com/is-series/plastic-and-resin-kits/1-35-scale . Also you can check out reviews for each on Scalemates. Here's the engine. https://miniart-models.com/products/37006-v-54-engine/ Mini art makes a t34 engine/tranny set. I'd think they might have a t54 tranny too. If not, drop them a line and maybe you can get the parts for the tranny from one of the t54 kits from them as "replacements"

i had a look at the first site and looked at the trumpeter folder but it only has a review for an IS-3M but there are reviews for other kits.
i have found the T-54 engine set from mini art but i haven't seen anything on their website regarding T34 engine or transmission kits...scratch thht, i found it on ebay!
does anyone know of any T-34 kits that come with a complete engine and transmission or perhaps a T-54 that has the same... are there any verlinden type of kits that have these sort of update kits possibly by another manufacturer?

Hi;
FYI; from what has already been talked about, your best bet would be the Miniart set. And if my memory serves me rite the only other maker was ICM; Which had the Engine in there T-28 & T-35 kits ! Verlinden has A Full Engine and compartment set, but its for either the T-72/90 kits which you can still get on ebay for around 60.00$ USD !
AS I suggested earlier you mite try and find one of the Trumpy kits that they provided the Engine & trany in there kit; They made Three kits which they gave you that option, the Type-89 and the MLRS and the SPG that looked like A 2S3 !!! ALL three can be found on ebay at reasonable money !
GOOD LUCK; MIKE.
