This is Tamiya's excellent M26 Pershing which includes a "working" suspension. The kit just falls together as fit is excellent, directions are clear, and flash and molding marks are virtually non existent.

This model is part of the DSB's "Pig in a Pile" Campaign, where other DSB members voted on what kit should be built from each other DSB member's unbuilt kit stash. Once the vote was in, the kit garnering the most votes, has to be built by the modeler.

This Pershing was preshaded with MM US Marine Corp Green, then overcoated with MM Green Drab, then weathered with MM Rail Brown, Camo Brown and Field Drab.

Still to do, decals, assemble and paint the commander figure, and storage i.e. ammo cans, ration boxes and tarps.

As part of the DSB Campaign requirement, either the letters DSB or the modelers Pig number (in my case 28) has to appear on the model or the model base. Since this Pershing has the "working" suspension I will pose it on a base of uneven terrain and include DSB somehow in the scene.

A question, the open commanders hatch--what is the correct color/colors to paint the inside of the hatch? Thanks.

Any helpful comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Believe that answers that. Good paintjob so far, are you using the kit stowage or did you get an aftermarket stowage set?

Great work but even more interesting is the Pig in the Pile Campaign. I find that to be very interesting. Seems like many of us have rather large stashes that could yield some interesting results

Oops -- kinda skimmed the text to get right to the pics.

I question why Steve would start the weathering before putting on the markings -- he'll end up weathering this thing twice.

Bob--point taken, but you have to remember I'm not known for being the brightest bulb in the socket .

Truthfully, I always decal last--and I don't use future either, and its always worked for me. I cut out all decals removing the excess film, apply the decal, solvaset, and then dry brush the decal to blend it. I know its backwards, but again, I'm from Wisconsin.

Lord Yellow Snow---good to see you pal, I've missed you in chat---I plan on using the Verlinden oil and k ration boxes, and some tissue/glue rolled up tarps---the kit also comes with a couple of crates and some ammo boxes.

Porkster, I finally get you to post to my work again--cool

Anybody know what the inside commander hatch color should be--OD? White?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hey, Steve -- I'm originally from Wisconsin, too -- Oshkosh, to be exact. I went to high school at Bay Port in Green Bay and to college back in Oshkosh at the UW. Now, if you were from Minnesota, you might have an excuse ...

Inside of the hatch should be OD.

Steve-

hehehe, nice Pershing... up to your usual standards I see!!! Holy cow, I love the paintjob.... man...... (shakes head in awe ) If I read your color choices correctly... no olive drab at all? I love the depth you achieve on your models, and to think you did it without the standard olive drab coat. The color looks very convincing - you have done excellent work my friend - being from Wisconsin and all. Now if you were from Iowa, then you wouldn't have an excuse - nevermind Minnesota..... lol

Question... were the periscopes on US tanks black? If so, I would make sure to hit the scope on the inside of the commander's hatch with some flat black. Other than that... I can't find anything else..... lol

Question 2 .... what color was the bottom half of the lense in the tail light? I see you painted the top half red - was the bottom bluish silver, or just the same color as the tank? I am asking because I am working on my Jumbo Sherman now, and have no idea as to the correct color to paint the lenses in the tail-lights..... Your light looks great - maybe you could give me a pointer.... hehehehe

Thanks, and take care!
Jeff

Way to go Steve ...looks great ...I'm having so much fun with this kit right now too that I think I'll buy another one just in case I have another urge to build it ....Your weathering looks good ..You've got the preshading techinque down great ...hey now get those decals on so you can weather them too. Are you doing it in Korea?? I hope so you added the phone ...but then you'd need fender supports...errrhhh never mind lol... Sorry I'm in Pershing mode and I notice those little things... great job so far buddy. I'll try and post some pictures of mine this week or next.

You did it again Steve. Great work. Love the weathering without it looking dirty. All the detail being brought out like you do, shows what a tidy builder you are. man this the perfect build. Can´t wait for the figure and stowage to be added.
Good to see ya back in play again!!

Great looking M26 Steve ! Marine Corps Green ey ? What markings are you planning for this M26 ? Will look real good with some stowage and crew gear. Weathering looks good to so far. Send us more pics as you go along

Jeff: Maybe you should look into one of these kits ??? If you don't have one already

Cheers !!

Lord Pershing,

Sorry that I didn't post earlier, this is one fine looning M26, up to your usual very high stand come to give a mono tone vehicle depth in color, and variations. This is truely awesome.

Love it!

Great work Uncle Esteban! I like the way you made the cast parts look very different from the sheet metal parts. How did you do it?

SteveWWH,

Hey, another awesome job you have done on the Pershing! Is it the second Pershing you have done? I remember you have done a super Pershing before. You have been always doing the high standard of painting and pre-shading job.

A bit more progress on the Pershing. The Commander is in place and some rear deck stowage, plus a final ovhd view. Still do do, decal and put this on a base.

SteveWWH,

Nice touch on the stowages on the rear of the Pershing! Could you tell me how you tide those little strings around the stowages?

Cool, I like the updated photos - two questions - is the 50's barrel drilled out? and is that a correct parascope?
Great deck and stoage

Steve Great job on building this kit out of the box...Your weathering and painting just bring it to life...I haven't been able to just build what's in the box in years but you have shown that it can be done...Hey you didn't even change the handles on the turret hatches and it's not that noticable....good job....Now there is a joint line I see on the search light ,but who's looking.
Now I'll get back to adding more stuff to mine while you are ready to start a new project...
Are you going to add decals?

Rick
