How do they compare to Tamiya? I’ve seen an aftermarket 2A4 turret and other parts for the Heng Long 2A6. My first choice would be Tamiya, but I’m not into RC at all and don’t want to pay RC prices. The Tamiya 2A6 Display Only kit is very rare, so I’m wondering about Heng Long. With their prices, I wouldn’t feel bad about throwing away RC gear.

Hi Lee, I am normally in 1:35 scale, but really: I would buy every kit of the Leopard 2A4 in EVERY SCALE. For a while Hooben Hobby made advertising for a 1:16 Leopard 2A4, but that has unfortunately never been released. I am also considering doing a 2A4 in 1:16 and my findings so far are that Heng Long offers a good base. I know there are several aftermarket parts, tracks etc., especially for the RC modellers, but I have never seem an aftermarket turret so far. You need to amend a lot. Keep us updated.

A guy in Germany offers a turret made of sheet plastic. It can be bought in pieces or built. He has other parts to convert the HL 2A6 into a 2A4. I’ll find a link and post it later.

Modelersite offers a how-to article on the Heng Long 2A4 conversion. It has 230+ photos. They charge US $15 for a download. I think I’ll order it and print it out.

Chris Ludwig suffered a battery fire the weekend before last, though he has started rebuilding, so there will undoubtably be a delay on any orders made for a while.

I've got one of his Centurions - 1/16th - very nice model.
