This is it. It is 4 inches long. 4 inches wide including bow. I have'nt started doing the base. But the rubber bands work well. I also learned a nice way of twisting the bands so it could apply more torque I may finish it in another week or two.

That's looking really good. I bet I could 'entertain' my two housecats with that!

It can shoot a "bolt" to a distance of 28 inches. I'm still working on the balance of the bows. Can't get it to work consistently.

Gee... Posts like this make me think that maybe I need to fire my Trebuchet at a couple of cats before I submit a finished work! :-) Would anyone like to volunteer their cats? :-)

Excellent model, looks like you put a lot of work into this. I saw the Scorpio (Ballistas little brother) in action at a re-enactment a year or so ago, very mean piece of equipment.
I came across this site (sorry it wasn't earlier, it might of been of assistance) with technical data and drawings.
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/6622/equipment.html
From the site:
"The ballista was the main artillery weapon of the army. It was a two armed torsion catapult which threw stones in a relatively flat trajectory."
If memory serves it also used to 'send' a very large bolt as seen in the opening scenes of Gladiator!

Now all I need to make is the firing mechanism and painting it.
