I am building the Academy T-34 from their Factory 112 Production kit. I was working on the spare fuel drums that sit on the hull and thought I would try for a slightly different look. I am thinking of having one of the fuel drums missing. Would the straps that hold them in place on the hull be made of metal like those on a barrel? In other words, if the fuel drum is missing, would the straps still retain their hoop or round shape rather than lay down somewhat flat?
I don't usually build tanks or WWII subjects so my references on the T-34 are thin and I could not find anything in my internet search. Thanks!
Have fun modeling

As the looped portion was hinged, the jostling of the tank generally made it fall. Or it was removed easily.

WOW!!!!!! These photos are fantastic! This was exactly what I was hoping to find. I owe you a beverage of your choice should we ever get the opportunity to meet. Thank you for clearly and perfectly answering my newbie question and doing it so fast!! I will definitely attempt to give my T-34 some character and have at least one missing fuel drum.
Have fun modeling!
