Rick - no hypercritical opinion(s) from me - other than I really like what I see. It presents a very nice impression of the M26 Pershing and I hope it is viewed favorably by those evaluating it...

The biggest thing that struck me when I looked at your photos of the road wheels on both sides is that Number Five seems to be out of alignment with the rest on both runs - most noticably on the right side though. I remember when I built my M45 Pershing conversion using the Tamiya hull and running gear I was surprised with how much slop in the attachment of the road wheels I experienced. I actually had to use the aftermarket tracks to align the road wheels. It could be a trick of the camera angle, but I have been called a "pesky judge" once or twice in my time. If I got fooled by angle and light, someone else could too...

Nope, not one little nitpick, not a thing wrong that I can see. Damn near perfect IMHO.

wow! Most excellent! But, for the one nitpick I need to post on the board, the bag on the rear fender loks as if it is falling off, maybe there are straps I can't see?

Thanks for the comments Gunny and Dave....I know what you mean about the suspension ..Next time I do this kit I'm gluing everything down ...but seems to me I checked it when I put it on the table.(let's just say it is the camera angle.)..Darn movable suspension! ..I'm going to add a bit of rubble to the road so that should fix any problem there ..Nope didn't get a thing for it ...but hey I had a great time ...My Sturmtiger got a third though....(still trying to figure that one out)
As for the tarp on the fender it has tie downs and straps...I'm the first to hate seeing things not tied down on AFV's .

Way to go. the finish is superb. I like the distressed road wheels and the dusty dirty look. Bravo!!

This is one of those models that the more you look at it, the better it seems to get. My only possible negative comment is that this would be a good model to have a figure with, to give some idea of the size of this tank. I only say that because in RR we're supposed to give SOME constructive criticism. I don't feel qualified to criticize this piece otherwise, I am pretty awed by it.

Thanks Animal and Halfyank....I agree about the figures but I can't paint figures at all ...not even if my life depended on it .... :-) I did see a clinic on figure painting and might give them another go one of these days.

Dadgum, that is a nice model! Is the suspension on the Tamiya Pershing acutally movable once it has been built?

Very nice, Rick.

How did you do the canvas mantlet cover? Is it aftermarket or scratch?

I love the weathering on it. Give it a real "operational" use but not an abused look. By that I mean, the weathering seems to be...well...from weather and from the overall climate and terrain. The weathering doesn't seem to be from crew useage as much (a good thing for those reading this thinking that is a bad thing). My only thing is that there are no markings of any kind. Not sure why, because I remember most Pershings through the Korean War having some kind of markings.

Thanks Bob ...Its theTrakz Mnatlet cover (took 2 months to find one but I got it) Jeff thanks for the comments on the weathering ..I'm not into all that chipping I do just a bit around the hatches ...Jeff would you believe me if I said there are stars all over this tank ..It is just the angles that the pictures were taken at that they don't show ..I tell you they are there cause I painted them on.. :-) You can see the one on the engine deck if you look close ..here's a close up...

and this one before final weathering

Fantastic job! Can you explain the long tarp in terms of material used, technique to place tie downs on it and paint used?
thanks

Hi DJ ..I cheated it is from the Trakz stowage set ...just a big blob of resin ...When I redo this kit (and I will ) I think I will make my own ..Had a terrible time getting it to fit right and I'm not completely satisfied with it ...I think it is because I used the Dragon sponson boxes...It does look good though.

Wow ! Incredible work on your M26 Pershing !! Your weathering looks very convincing, like it just came out of the field. I really like how you did the crew stowage too. Again, very nice work !!

Cheers !!

Thanks for the kind words Alpen and Tazz....I had a blast with this kit and learned alot about how to use pastels and pigments on this kit ...I think I'll be using them more often.
