Ok, here are my latest updates
The bogies, boxes and some tools are finished. As for the extra equipment (bags, etc), I think I may left them out if I'm out of time.
Turret and upperhull is finished. Touchups will include drybrushing the edges, washing and putting silver on the head and tail lights
Lowerhull is partly complete, left side bogies have been glued in place. I am still thinking if I will install the right bogies before doing the drybrush or drybrush first then install later? As for the tracks! Man! The left tracks caused me about 6 hours just to detail it! You can see how the metal and the rubber differ through careful detailing on it. Still have to do the right side (6hrs again? :-) )
I think I will left out the figs and the bags for the moment. Mayber after the Overlord Campaign has ended, I will still try to continue to finish this baby

Coming along nicely Shonen. Which kit was this? I love the detail on... all of it. Looks like a great kit with awesome details! The tracks look great too + how do you paint the rubber tyres on those wheels it looks really good. Post some pics of your model as you progress... I'll be keen to see how it comes along.

Thanks! This is the Tamiya M4 Early Sherman. The treads where first painted with flat black then the end connectors where painted with mettalic grey and later would be drybrushed more with chrome silver.

Some more inprog shots
Still to do:
- figures
- extra equipment
- tank weathering
Any tips on how to weather it? I need it to be very slight (I want to preserve the tracks! It took me 6 hours to detail a single band)
Oh look! Another Sherman! I'm starting a collection here!

Shonen
Dry brushing and pin washing the suspension area will give you the control you need to weathr those ares while avoiding any upset to your track work.
As far as the upper hull, the sky is the limit there for weathering as you should be able to cover your exposed track links with any sort of light duty tape, or a paper and tape combination.
Good luck and keep us posted.

One things for sure, Shonen ... you´re a very neat and tidy builder. Everything looks perfect with no glue traces to be seen. When I paint tracks like this, I paint them all black and then dry brush the connector colour. Any overlaps or misses will be taken care of by washes and weathering. I would say both sides would take 30 mins.
With connectors this pristine colour ... its more of a showroom finish. They were metal and rusted pretty quickly ... except areas of wear that were grinded back to original colour.
The tamiya M4 is a nice kit .. and nice to build. I building a maquette su76m at the moment and it has about 10 colours and looks a bit messy .... looking at this makes me envious!

The upper hull looks like some weathering but the tracks and fenders are showroom clean. It's a shame but you're going to have to mess those up with dirt, grime and rust

Thanks all! Maybe a little dusting and dirt will do on the tracks.

Oh BTW, what I'm planning for this model is "before D-Day", meaning it was still fresh and not have entered any battles yet. Dusting will do. Any other weathering ideas?
