I know I'm late in, but I hope it won't matter...

I have had some time given to me and thought I would model with a purpose. I'm going to finish a Tamiya Willys Jeep with the OOB decal option 38th Field Artillery Bat, 2nd Inf Div.

The website I based my decision on stated that 1st and 2nd Inf. Divs went in at Normandy at D-1 and D-2 so I am assuming that my assumption is correct. Could this be a correct assumption?

I don't have a digital camera but I'll be able to loan one to the end of the campaign.

Not that it would have to make any difference to my project, but could it be assumed that a Willys could be either deployed by glider or landing vehicle?

Thanks for the reply...

Don't know about going in D-1 or D-2, that would be the day before and two days before the invasion, June 4th and 5th. I think they actually came ashore on D+1 and D+2, June 7 and 8.
Yes, they did come ashore in landing craft. LVCP or an LCM(3) would be appropriate landing craft for a Willys.

As for a Glider or Airborne jeep, they were modified Willys. They were narrowed by removing external items and shortened by removing bumpers and spare tire etc.

Here is a post of Faust's build of one. Airborne Jeep.

Thanks for the info. I meant D+1 and D+2, but see the error of my ways... thanks again. I was looking at the Sherman already completed in the photo gallery and noticed a loading marking, is there some type of list one can look at to put a somewhat correct marking on my Willys?? I liked that detail...
