Hi there
Project X is an official operation. Start date is set for Seiptember but, as stated elsewhere, if anyone wants to begin sooner that's fine.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support to get us up and running.
Click the link to reach the Project X campaign page.
Now I'm really going to have to think what to build!
All the best

I'm in! The X-35B will make it's journey soon! Hmmm... can I have multiple entries? I want to get my hands on that Fujimi X-32. Is it any good?

I already started on my Attack PzKpfw 38t Schwimmkorper for this build. This is the amphibious fitting for the little Czech tank. The Schwimmkorper hull is a resin conversion from Attack and the tank is the Attack 38t ausf. B.
Also thrown into the project is the ExtraTech PE for the 38t. It adds PE fenders, guide teeth, storage boxes, tow hooks, pioneer tools, grills and other various PE hull fittings to the limited production Attack kit.
I plan on adding the Armo barrel for the 38t as soon as I can locate one. The kit barrel is poor and has a mold slip. I would replace it with styrene tubing or alunimum rod but it has this taper to it.
BTW the project is in 1/72 scale and the prototype was designed to take place in the postponed Operation Sea Lion (Germany's planned invasion of Britain).

Hi there
Decisions, decisions!...
I could take the "easy" path and build something like a Black Bullet or Flying Pancake, or... oh dear it's tempting, try something like a Ta 154C or 254 with the raised "clear-view" cockpit...
Sabot...that Schwimmkorper sounds really neat! This is going to be a great build for finding subjects a lot of people have never come across.

A quick question.
I'm planning on building a Dragon Wagon for "move it" and adding a Panther G with IR gear to the trailer.
Would I be able to build the Panther for Project X and then mount it on the Dragon Wagon for Move It (since Move it doesn't focus on Armor, it's more of an accessory)?

Is a German Infantry armed with MP44 / StG 44 assault rifle fitted with infrared night-vision device - ZG 1229 Vampir and Der Gebano Lauf -curved barrel for corner shots acceptable for Project-X?
it is like a combination of the 2 photos.
i am not sure it is a prototype or not but IR devices were rare in WW2.
you can also see this link for an interesting use of MP44 curved barrel.
best regards

Hi there
Major Goose's kit should look awesome.
I'm sure a German engineer must have been having a joke about a Maus as big as a Haus!
No rush, but don't forget to enlist on the Campaign page. We've got far more people posting their projects than have actually signed up!

Hi Graywolf
Both those subjects look great. If everyone agrees, how about we expand the rules very slightly?...
i.e. not just prototypes and paper projects, but "test batches" too. That way, so long as a subject never reached full service, it's a valid entry. Things like a Bachem Ba 349 "Natter" and Nakajima Ki 115 would fall into this category.

I agree,
I always thought experimental should include prototypes and pre poduction batches.
So fire away if no-one objects.
Cheers

OK, let's think... I don't build things that never existed in reality... but... I planned to build Bushmaster Humvee from Tamiya kit and it only existed in prototype form, so I guess it should fit this campaign rules, right?
I'm also reeeeeeaaaaallyyyy slooooow builder, but January 1st, 2005 is still so remote date that I should actually manage to build this little kit in time.
And it is high time for me to finally join some campaign!
OK, count me in!
Pawel

Hi Pawel
Nice one! I've come unstuck a couple of times struggling to meet campaign deadlines... hence the nice long time allowed for Project X!
Great to have you aboard.

Hi, I think I am in. I am going to build the Fairy Rotodyne. I went on a visit to the Augusta Westland factory, and they are looking back to this design for the future of helicopters. Heavy lift, long range, fixed wing speed, helicopter capabilities and autogyro takeoff performance. Great ideas, chopped by the Labour Govt when they also chopped the TSR 2. Doh! Hmm, I might even dust off my TSR 2 kit. Lucky this doesnt even start until september, I might have a chance of finishing.
