Otherwise known as "Stalin Organ" by the Germans. This will be my entry for this great campaign. The kit is by Italeri and I must say a beautiful build so far. It will be finished in an Ochre color as used by the Soviets. More to come!

I remember seeing this kit as a kid and thinking how stupid! Now it is one of the kits I want to find (along with many others I laughed at as a kid!) Of course it costs 10x more now

I have been toying with building this one. I have been hesitant up till now. After seeing you example I think it will be on the build list for sure.
You have a very clean build so far and will very interested in seeing your completed. What type of decals come with this kit?

Animal, Decals are very sparse. Choice of either Red Army or Polish. For the Red Army the choice is pictured below or you can use the white star. For Polish you get the unit number for the doors and left rear bumper. From the info I have found so far , operational russian vehicles generally had no tactical and unit markings.

Glad you are doing some Soviet stuff. Italeri is actually a rebox of Zvezda kit which I had - I agree, a great kit. Keep us posted on your progress!!!!!!!!!

I think you'll find it's the other way around, I made the Italeri version over 20 years ago...either way it is a good kit and what we have here is a good example of it built up...

Note that this truck is not the same vehicle that is depicted in the Italeri kit. This pic is a Studebaker-based Katyusha. It is a WWII-vintage vehicle based on a Studebaker deuce-an-a-half sent to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease.
The Italeri kit is a post-war Katyusha based on the ZIS-151 truck. That puts it at 1948, at the earliest. http://www.autogallery.org.ru/zis151.htm Never fear -- this truck was all over the place in the 50s and 60s, just not in WWII.
For its age, the kit is very good. And your build is coming along nicely
