Hi guys:
Here are some pics of the Tiger I that I told I was working on. The kit is Italeri and the scale 1:35. I am building it OOB, just used some PE for the grills in the rear uperhull. It has the paint job and part of the weathering done. I have to fix some details with puty and carefull sanding, add some pieces and finish the overall weathering.
It is supossed to be a tank of the sPzAbt 502 in late 42.
Coments and critics will be ok.

Looks great!! I should note that the tracks are VERY red, what did you use to rust them? I would add some brown to the paint, it will lokk alot better!

Yes the tracks are looking a bit red but yet I have to give them a couple of oil washes in brown tones and waste them a little with drybrushing using a silver metal colour. To paint them I used Enamels, first French Chesnut = MM, and then Rust = Humbrol.
Brtween the tracks I used Dark Earth.

Nice Tiger you got going there ...A few things I noticed ..the tracks have been mentioned ..with the dirt all over the hull like that the tracks should be the same color....then the same goes for the wheels ,..You have the inside of the wheels dirty but the rubber is clean...I would add more dirt to the rubber parts and just go back and dry brush the part that touches the tracks with a dark grey rubber color... Your exhaust well I guess you used the same color as the tracks ...I would vary the color a bit all over ..What I do for these mufflers is I take some pastel chalks ..all kinds of different brown and red brown colors and some black ...I scrape off a bit of each color on a piece of sand paper...I then paint my mufflers in a dark brown color enamel paint and while it is still wet I take the different pastel colors and dab them on all over ...I keep changing the color and it gives a very realistic look..and texture .
If you are not going to use the rear fenders you should fill in those holes on the back same thing goes for the jack ..you should carve off the attachement points... I really do like your weathering the dirty sides look great ...keep the good work .. It will make a fine addition to your collection...Now I should go and do one of these someday...

Thanks Thebear. I agrre with you with the tracks.
Remember that Isaid that some things must be fixed and completed , for ex. those little holes in the back are to place a piece of gear.
The overall weathering will afect all the tank, incuding the road wheels and tracks.
Thanks for the advices, i took note of them.
Will post more pics in a few days.

Thanks Tigeriv, I donīt know exactly if the tracks are the ones of an early Tiger, they are the ones that comes with the kit. I heard something about that they are not the right type but not sure. I will make some research. If they arenīt the right ones may be I could put mud between the tracks and make them look very mudy and dirty. They began to use the new tracks in early or late 43 ?

Yes Tiger is right about the tracks but since this is mostly an oob built not much you can do about them..you could always just sand off the ice cleats but the notches would be alot of work, especially since the tracks are already on ..

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the smoke-discharger brackets are glued on up-side down!

It looks good mate! The only problem I see is in the tracks. Anyways, weathering should work it out

Hi fellows:
I have been working on the tracks and in the general weathering and corrected some things. I tried to give the tracks a muddy and very worn look. Still itīs no finished. There are resting some little details, gear, and weathering touches.
Coments and critics please:

Not a bad Tiger there! Weathering job not bad either. I like what you did with the fender on the left side, nice touch. My only (non-positive) comment is the lack of the bow machine gun...was this omitted on purpose?

Hi,
This is how I paint my tracks..
Paint....
a) Blue (mid or dark) + Black + Red-Brown
- Make sure that the color is near the blueish tone
b) wash with red-brown + black
- color tone should be near the rust effect
c) Rust color
- I discovered it by mistake.....
- used burnt sienna with oil as wash (for the road wheel) but it spilled onto the tracks...this giving it a rust look...
d) dry brush metallic colors to the those areas that are often subjected to contact. Rust would not settle on those parts and the metal would be exposed.
You could also use some pencil lead to highlght some of the roadwheel contact points....
Hope this helps

Thanks Tigeriv. Iīm happy with the result too.
First I sanded the tracks and then I fill the space between them with putty. When the putty was well dried I put white glue with a small brush and then a generous qty of very thin sand over the white glue.
Let it dry for a couple of hours and then I painted all with Vallejo Acrylics (Dark Earth and Mud).
