This is my submission for the Incoming Campaign. The scene intends to show a totaled out/abandoned Schimmwagen that is being used for cover by a Pak 40 crew.

The Schwim and Pak 40 are both from Tamiya with construction being straight oob. The 3 Pak crew troopers came with the Pak kit, the other fig is from the spares box.

Damage to the schwim includes a bent/collapsed front end bumper, the damaged wind shield, popped and sprung motor hood, and loss of the driver's side wheels to damage.

The base is pink construction foam skimmed with joint compound to smooth the edges. I rounded and curved the base, hopefully adding a little more visual interest for the eye. The scenery is from Model Rail Road products and assorted items from the backyard.

This dio was fun with both kits being nifty little builds that I wanted to include on a compact dio base.

The brass shells are pretty poor looking. I used Humbrol Brass enamel and I could not tone down the shiney metal flaked look enough so I finally gave up. Can some of you pass on how you paint brass rounds please? I have not done that many figures yet, and the facial flesh colors are a real struggle.

I appreciate the opportunity to participate in TreadHead's Incoming Campaign. Any comments are always appreciated. Thanks.
Steve

Ola Steve

Stunning work you show here mate. I really like how you put all this togethger to this really convincing dio. It tells a good story.
The derelict Schwimmwagen is done very well and I like the rusty worn appearance it is showing. Is it the Tamiya Schwimmwagen? I notice the lid of the enginebay is open. great work on that.

Your gun looks terrific but more congrats need to go out to how you did the crew of the gun. I really like how you made the old Tamiya figures and made them into something convincing. Great job.

The ground work looks good too with extra compliments for the shape of the base.

I don`t know what timeframe we are speaking about but if it is late war maybe you could add a camonet or branches to the gun they would do everything to break the silhouette of the gun. Maybe you could make a pic from a low angle something like towards the hole of the barrel to see how high the Profile of the gun is and how much it is hidden by the derelict schwimmwagen.

besides my minor nitpick you made a very stunning diorama congrats and great job

Steve,
This scene looks very good. There is nothing wrong with your figures they are actually very good your skin tone is excellent and the drybrushing brings out the detail on their equipment.
One small thing though. I have to agree with Robert I think if you added a camo branch to the gun it may just add a little more detail. This is not a criticism of your work but rather a suggestion

Great job on this Dio. I like the way you made the engine shinny like a real bug engine can get with the oil leaking all over it. The whole scene came together very nice. You have giving me a lot of ideas as to what I could do with some older models that I have laying around.

SteveWWH,

Once again you have done a pretty great job on this little dio. I really like it a lot. Both the Pak and the Scwhimm are amazing. About the figures, the flesh tone is okay but I couldn't see the facial features from the pics so I couldn't judge it. Overall, this is a nice dio. Congratulations!

Hi Steve ..Great job on the Dio...I like the idea of the base just made for the dio...no empty spaces Both Models look great and I'm amazed at what you did with these old figures....One thing that I was thinking about ..would you hide behind a vehicle that you know will draw fire ? The scene might work better hiding behind a Jeep or a T34 ...This way they see the Shwim they might just pump some lead into it just because it is there and might get a lucky shot that would hit the crew without even knowing they were there. This is just my opinion and like I said everything looks super as is ..just food for thought.

Lord Wisconsin,

This is among one your best works, the dio is awesome, especially the knocked out SW, very very convincing.

No lens on PAK40? How they fight at night then!!!!

Great work!

Gotta agree with Faust and TheBear about what you've done with the kit figures -- very nice, excellent even!

Nice, tight dio, though I'm nonplussed by the way the tires from the Schwimwagen are splayed. They may have looked better with flat tires or sunken into the ground. From above, it kind of looks like a stepped-on model.

Steve-
:-)

I really like what you have done here!

Top notch work my friend..... the scene is really convincing.

Painting brass is touchy... I dip my brass in WELL mixed paint... OR I use the Tamiya real brass.

Take care dude :-)

Later-
Nelson

nice work steve,

i echo what the other guys have said, good to see a nice model made from those old figures,

as for brass, its very difficult to paint brass, i usually opt for turned brass rounds where possible, they look so much better than painting it!

cheers

joe
