This is another holidayproject, a ok build but i decided to replace the tracks with the AFV Club offerings (with some help from John the Dragonwagon - thanks dude!)
I plan on replacing the barrel to, as the kits offering really is bad! It consists of 2 halves and a endpiece, and getting them smooth and nice is really annoying!
Its painted with Humbrol enamel and washed with oil - carefull with the tracks mind you!
Otherwise its OTB.
To do list:
Paint handles on the .50
Do something about that carrierfilm on the decals.
Ad stowage and personal gear inside and outside.
Make dioramabase

Hey Jan,
I'm glad I could be of any assistance!!
You did a great job on the Duckbill, except for one minor detail: I can see some silvering on the "Corsair" decal....have you tried Micro Sol an Set?
Otherwise you may consider to fill in the decal with dilluted Olive Drab, so the silvering doesn't show anymore.
Greetz, John.

Jan, She's coming along nicely. I really like the subtle weathering. 1 question..were the shell casings a copper color such as you have on yours?

I noticed some "silvering" of the decals.......I only bring this up as it's been my down fall at contests
You have done a great job of weathering, I'll use your Duckbill as a guide for mine!
Cheers!

Looks great. I love this forum, wish it had been around 10 years ago as I would be 10 years ahead of where I am now.
Here are my suggestions.
1.) Try to remove the wash from the machine gun. These were oiled/cleaned/cared for much more frequently than the hull and turret, suspension, etc...
2.) Drybrush the machine gun and really the whole tank with a metallic shade to give it more of a metallic appearance. Keep it subtle!! I like silver cut with raw umber oil paint.
3.) Take you xacto and very carefully poke tiny holes in the decals, then hit the decals with solvaset. This will help settle them down quite a bit.
4.) Add "stuff" to your M-10. Pictures of these show they were most often loaded down with sandbags, logs, equipment, rations, whatever they could get a hold of.
5.) The wash you did looks pretty good, but I would do another, darker wash. Not quite black, but maybe a burnt umber. In particular, on areas like the suspension, antenna, hull, etc... This will really give the small details the chance to jump out at you.
Hope this helps. Really a super build... I have two Academy M-10's and an AFV club M-10 in the "to-do" stack...

Hey, thanks for all the good advice!
1 - Ammo, they are in fact painted with brasscolour ... it must be the light that plays tricks on the camera.
2 - decals, normaly i use the Humbrol liquid glue to take care of the carrierfilm, but Academys must be much thicker than Tamiyas, they will recive some ekstra treament.
3 - wash - the .50 will be redone, i“m not happy with it anyway. Overall i want a dusty apperance - like Sicily or Italy, so i“m not sure i“ll do more about it ... but that dark one on the running gear ...tempting
4 - Gear - everything in the partsbox and some homemade goodies will be loade on top of it - last chance to see it is a m10 :-)
5 - It will get another barrel - i already hate the original....
Or i“ll just change my mind, cover it with snow and throw it in for the "battle of the bulge" campain :-)
