My Volvo F12 Trailer Truck by ScanKit (#2021) is a civilian rig. Is there any problem with that? I bought this kit to use as diorama material for some KFOR check point dio I may do some time down the road. It is a sweet little 22-wheeled rig.

By all means Rob. In the request for campaign approval I stated that we can build a "contract Truck". We have a vast amount of civilian trucks running convoys for the US now. So if it is good enough for the Army, it is good enough for this campaign.

In the postings that we lost, I had stated that a heavy tractor could be built as a bobtail and the possibility of adding a trailer at a latter date was permissible. I realize that the cost of some kit trailers and tractor trailer rigs cost a bundle. So for those that cannot build both but want to participate they could convert a kit into a tractor. This is a good campaign to try your hand at scratch building a trailer. The flat bed S&P trailers are easy to build and make the perfect candidate for the first time try.

I guess I could finish my Fraun Transporter, or my M-915A2, Or maybe start on the M920 I always wanted to build.

i was thinking of putting something on the trailer, and building it as if it has been strafed by typhoons and the crews killed, might be able to find some dead and injured germans to go with it.

not being a german builder im not sure what the trailer can handle, most photos i can find of the tamiya kit show it with stugs etc on the back, is this the heaviest it could take?

cheers

joe

Unfortunately, I was in Phoenix when the site went down, and got back late Sunday. I missed all the postings on this campaign - but - it goes without saying that I'm in! The parameters are clear and fine to me, no additional input...

Phoenix was a blast - best time I've had at a IPMS/USA National. I went on about it in the Events & Shows Forum...

count me in, this would be my first campaign ever and the perfect excuse for me to order Trumpeter's 1/35 SA-2 w/Trailer kit, which I have planned to do anyway, should arrive in about a month from now (surface mail).
when is the official starting date?

I have submitted the request for approval to Gunnie for this campaign. The start date would be 1 Oct 2004 and the end date will be 1 April 2005. Our good friend Peter (Flitzer) has designed a ribbon to be awarded at the completion of your project. He has also designed a banner for us also. I thought that the Red Ball would be a fitting symbol because of the Red Ball express during WW 2 .

cool, 1 oct. will be great, gives me time to focus on my on going builds and should cover the long wait for my SA-2 rig to arrive.

please forgive my ignorance, but could you please explain in a few words the story behind the Red Ball Express ribbon, I'm not familiar with this chapter of WWII.

After the invasion of france and as the allies advanced they had to truck their supplies from the beaches of france well into belgium, Holland and even Germany. So army drivers including a large number of negro drivers drove the supplies for 1000's of kilometers along a route known as the "REDBALL HIGHWAY" and thus became known as the "REDBALL EXPRESS" as they stopped for nothing.

I knew that one of our WW 2 experts would come and answer that question the correct way. Thanks Cliff.

Is there still an interest in this campaign? I submitted the approval application a while back but have not received any reply form the approving source. I can resubmit the request again if enough of the members still want to go ahead with it.

I'd still be game for this campaign. My problem is which tractor trailer combo to chose from.

If we get 10 people still interested in this campaign, I will resubmit the request. The start and finish date can be discussed by those interested and decided by the majority. I have a couple of kits that I want to build, but would rather wait and build them in a campaign.
