Apparently this thread was deleted, due to the fact that I can't find it in my little area. Anyway, here's the question: What cartoon are you guys/gals planning to do? If you can't find one, just ask! Thanks for your time.

For the ‘feud’ between Bill Mauldin and Patton, this one seemed appropriate: :-)
From http://ww2.pstripes.osd.mil/02/nov02/mauldin/
Caption reads:
"Radio th' ol' man we'll be late on account of a thousand-mile detour."

seems two will be doing this one. LOL
Should be fun and interesting seeing the different artist approaches taken, doing the same subject.

That woudl be interesting, seeing two different artists' approach to this. Hey guys! Do you want some extra credit? Why did Patton and Mauldin feud over his cartoons?
Was it:
A. Patton was not a people person.
B. Mauldin was not a people person.
or was it:
C. Patton saw Mauldin's cartoons as a threat which could undermine authority, possibly causing a "mutiny".
D. None of the above.
(I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised at the answer. See? Not all history is found in a reference book. ) Remember, folks, there's still time to enter! Thanks for your time.

I think they were both ‘cut from the same cloth’, but on opposite sides of the fence. Gen. Patton was a strict authoritarian, Mauldin was anti-authority, not to mention that both Gen Patton and Bill Mauldin were pig-headed.
Generals Eisenhower and Clark did not help things either.
I believe that Bill Mauldin in his The Brass Ring (1971) summed it up nicely;
"I was a born troublemaker and might as well earn a living at it."
And
“If you're a leader, you don't push wet spaghetti, you pull it. The U.S. Army still has to learn that. The British understand it. Patton understood it. I always admired Patton. Oh, sure, the stupid bastard was crazy. He was insane. He thought he was living in the Dark Ages. Soldiers were peasants to him. I didn't like that attitude, but I certainly respected his theories and the techniques he used to get his men out of their foxholes.”
To answer your question;
Quoted from Bill Mauldin, The Brass Ring (1971)
“Patton demanded: "What are you trying to do, incite a goddamn mutiny?" :-)

Yup! Wow, how did you know? I found out when I had done a report on him (Mauldin). But, anyhoo, what cartoons do you guys/gals have picked out? Remember, if you can't find any, I'll gladly find a couple for you! Thanks for your time.

Whilst at school I did a report (on famous leaders), the teacher meant political which I purposefully misinterpreted (mainly because she was an ‘in your face’ pacifist) on Gen. Patton (Ghengis Khan and Pol Pot were taken ). During the research I came across Bill Mauldin and read some of his work. His ‘meeting’ with Patton came out.
Didn’t Gen. Patton’s son Maj. Gen. Patton (Jr) pass away recently?
I remember a short piece on him and Kerry locking horns (or something of the like).

The caption reads: "Must be a tough objective. Th' old man says we're gonna have th' honor of liberatin' it."
