Hi guys! This is my first time making two entries for the Incoming campaign. Treadster is a good ole friend and I can't resist making another one for his campaign.

Here is the progress pics:

The mortar is finish. Seems ok now. The fig on the left has been painted with enamels (base color only). I'm still waiting for Wed for the paint to fully cure then add the wash and highlights. The other one on the right (which I've just glued a moment ago) will be painted tomorrow.

A 2x2 or 3x3 simple base would tie up the whole scene. Any ideas on the addons on the base aside from the weapons/mortar rounds?

Yep. The new release with the 6 figs. Very nice mould and seam lines are quite minimal. Took me to sand them about 20 mins a fig (the Volks took me about 30-40 mins to remove all the seams per fig)

It's looking good so far Ralph! One thing I noticed is the bore on the mortar tube . The walls of the tube look thick, maybe the bore could be bored out a bit making the walls thinner? Other then that, it looks sharp!

HTH

Garry

P.S. Those guys should'nt have had there heads so close to the bore, loosing there heads ! LOL! Sorry, thats the first thing I thought of when I saw the pic.

Thans garrybeebe! I also noticed the walls too thick. What's a good remedy? X-acto or a drill bit? The kit itself isn't hollowed out so I tried making a tube using my drill bit but I figured it was too small for the job

Too late! The mortar already blown their head sky high!

Howdy shonen,

Mighty glad to see your going for the Campaign Ribbon with gold citation border there pal!
Bloody good on ya!

Although I must agree with garrybeebe on this one.......but my first thought was, "How are they sighting the darn thing!?!"..... :-)

Tread.

Oh, and on addressing the tube thickness. I personally wouldn't use an Xacto, it tends to either 'stutter' or 'catch' in cases like that. If it were me, I would use increasingly larger drill bits.
But then, after my recent 'in-depth' experience with small scale aluminum tubing building my Norinco Multi-tube 120mm mortar, well.............

I drill with pin-vise up to 1/16". After that, I use a small tapered round file & just ream it out -- carefully.

Another option (or if you break it doing the above) is to cut off say a 1/4" of the tube & replace with a card stock ring ....

Another update:

Now they are shooting with their heads away from the tube

Both kits painted. Now I'm looking for a suitable base. I now need to detail the head and the accessories.

It is the US M2, 60-mm mortar. (Or is it the M19?)

I have all kinds of plans for this kit however I have not seen it on the shelves of my LHS yet.

How about some cover? A little sandbagged protection would be cool. Or even the remains of a ruined wall?? Some weights should be placed on the mortar base plate to hold it down. A sandbags or a big stone depending onwhichofthe above scenarios you choose.
In the first picture there seems to be some seems on the shoulders of the painted guy!
