In honor of MrRoo, (aka Brother Pouch, aka Cliff), and SS-74, (aka Dave Tong), this Dragon Wagon is dedicated to a couple of great friends and splendid modelers.
This is Tamiya's Dragon Wagon built for the Move It Campaign. The DW will be added to a dio scene, assisting an M8 armored car that has broken a wheel and needs some towing assistance. Additional figures to complete the scene are on order from chat bud Alpen, (aka Lord Hobby Shop). The M8 will be started soon.
Comments are always appreciated.
Thanks.
Steve

I notice the nose art decal film is showing on this pic. Not good----I will dry to dry brush this out if I can.
The 5th wheel
Dual winches -- these winches are little builds unto themselves. Tamiya did a beautiful job moulding these and descrbing assembly in the directions.
I struggle with figure painting, and the pic is a bit blurry -sorry

Steve:
Wow, great looking vehicle... I'm glad to see it's done (any comments from the family on the "nose art?")! The figures look good too... your flesh tones and color selections look right on.
I'm sure hope we'll be seeing this at Wausau in the non-armored or diorama division....

Here's another thought for 5th wheel grease Maybe thicken up some flat black paint with baby powder? Flat black paint dry brushed on reguraly to me wouldn't look right

I can't even begin to describe how cool that looks. I have found no flaws. And even if I did, I wouldn't mention is because building that thing is no easy task. I'm assuming - hell hoping - that the chains were provided? And for the winches, did you use rope/twine or twisted wire? Your figure paining if struggling is realistic, it looks like a real person, minus the eyes which may just be from the blurry picture - it looks like the camera just focused on the background instead of the foreground.
Your weathering is realistically subtle, the highlighting and shadows real. I especially like the machinery area in the back and the stripped paint highlighting on the anti-skid panels. That and the drive chain is supurb. You should be very proud. I'd say get that thing done and enter it in as many contests as you can!

That is way cool. Too bad you didn't get a trailer too. I'm sure your work on the trailer would havr been a superb plus a good looking load

I am very impressed Steve! Every thing about your build has realism all over it! The cables on the reels looks awesome. As dose the whole build.
Well done Amigo!

Steve this is superb. Your attention to detail and skills at painting are much admired by me and I look forward to seeing every project you do.
The fifth wheel! I have to agree with Chad on this. It still does not look quite right.
If you do the trailer as good as you have done the truck you will have a winner my friend.

That is a master piece you should send it to some magazines and see if they'll put it in the book. I have seen the progress pictures and this blew my mind with the finished :-) MASTER PIECE :-) .
I wish I could get that good of result on my models. I really like the chipped paint look and the rust is in all the right places it wasn't over done. The fading is what made it jump out of the picture for me.
This one has to place first in any shows when you go. I think it even might be a winner in a Tamiya contest.
Congrats on a impressive " MASTER PIECE "
Happy Modeling

Mmhmm, (TM)
Nice job on the vehicle as a whole, and I like the winches. As for 5th wheel grease, texture where it will go first, and I recommend Oily black in the RR line of paints.

Steve,
Words can not describe how awesome this is. I honestly believe it is your best model to date.
The figures are really good too (you are not crap at figure painting)

Great, I like the winches & cables in particular -- what did you use for cables ???
Of course as an Inspector, I have to gig you for frayed cable on one winch -- but that adds to the realism !!!
Also, a DW to grab an M8 is a bit of overkill -- have a light touch on the winch or you'll fling it into the next grid sector !!!

Nice Nice NIce. I like the DW a lot. If you do decide to do the 5th wheel grease - maybe experiment with some colored white glue?
My only critique is the figures. The eyes are lacking at least a bit of shadow. If you could get some extra in there it would liven them up. I'd also like to see some foil strips for helmet straps.
I love the last photo - very nice

Looks really... really nice.... that kit makes me want to move to a larger apartment, just to have a place to display it.
