Hi Guys. Another quick build. I bought this cheaply last year as a renovation job, and was very impressed by how easy it was to build. Lovely kit and some great figures and accessories included. I used two jerry cans from an old dio with added lead foil straps, the kit included one that had only 2 handles. The two pieces of grey resin stowage are from Accurate Armor´s british stowage set!
One question I have related to this .... the periscope guards have no lids supplied in the kit, but they are shown on box-artwork. Should these be added or were they left off?
I just noticed from the photos that there are holes where thetowing rope should be placed. Must fill these.
Any comments or critic are welcome!
All five periscopes can be seen in the image below without lids .. 3 on the hull and 2 on the turret

Frank, I have seen pic's with and without the periscope covers, but I'm not sure why they would be missing. It's not a big job, so it's probably better to add them. I build the same model, and on mine the tracks are falling apart . For some reason the have gone rockhard and brittle, and links break off at the slightest toutch .
I don't think it's the paint as I have painted other tracks (from Tamia) in the same way, with no problem. The jerry-cans you mention, are they not the oilcans? I do agree that the stowage in the kit is not great, but the figures are, especialy the farmer with the wine bottles!
To give you same inspiration, this is what I did with it.

Cheers Henk. I have a set of hole punches here at work, and I´ll take them home and knock out a few circles tonight.
About the tracks ... did you paint them with acrylic or enamles? I heard that spraying them with acrylic first helps avoid this. I will fix to a base so they will get as little abuse as possible anyway! The tracks included were the cement glueable type, so maybe they are a newer version and not the same as the normal tamiya tracks.
Cool churchill by the way. I really like all the mud and rust on the lower hull. Think I might go for this look myself! Im guessing thats one of the tamiya marching infantry?

Frank
Looks good so far. I have no idea about the periscopes - was actually wondering the same thing myself.
Quick build - I started mine last Christmas and the way I am going won't even finish it by this Christmas.

Thanks guys for all your very encouraging comments. Much appreciated.
The periscope lids bugged me, so when I came home from work this evening I made some from 0.3mm card. Have never scratched much before, so Im quite happy with these. I think it looks better with, than without them anyway! The kit was primed around areas that added items and then resprayed black to have an even base for painting later!
