Hey Guys,
Here are some shots of the progress i've made so far on the Ic hybrid. there are still details to go on the turret and all the stowage to mount yet but I am making pretty steady headway. All comments are more than welcome.

You continue a beautiful IC, Bryan.

I love the tracks with some of the EECs missing -- looks nice and random.

What paint and markings do you have planned?

Thanks for all the encouraging comments guys She's getting close to paint ( thank god) and weathering. It will be a Canadian vehicle with the Governor Generals Foot Guards in NWE. I am planning on some heavier than normal ( for me anyway ) weatthering and lots of stowage on the front and rear . There weill also be at least 2 crewman in the turret.
cheers,
Bryan

Hey Bryan,

Looks way cool dude! Will ahve to take a look at it up close either at AMPS East or a trip up there in Canada. Of course, you will have to bring it out the west side of Canada as I do not get to the other side that much.

Anwyay, talk later bro!

Bryan

I hadn't heard of the hybrid Firefly, which I guess comprises a cast glasis plate welded to a steel plate hull.

Your photographs show the forward applique armour plate on the right hand side bisected with a diagonal weld, which looks as though it is part of the weld stitching together the cast and plate sections of the hull. My understanding is that applique armour was usually attached in the field, in which case the diagonal weld on the hull would be hidden behind the additional plate. Is this assumption correct?

I have only recently returned to plastic modelling but if I can eventually even approach the standard shown in your photographs I will be a very happy bunny indeed.

Cheers

Bill:

First off, welcome back to the hobby and welcome to Armorama -- the most fun you can have on the Web with your clothes on!

About the applique armor on the IC -- that plate was actually in two pieces, thus it has the weld running at the same seam as the hull parts. It's kind of hard to tell be the pics, but the front casting is slightly beveled in from the side hull plate. The add-on armor could not be easily bent to conform to the corner, so they cut it in two and welded both parts on. Hope this makes sense.

Bob

Many thanks for the welcome. This looks to be a friendly and instructive site.

Thanks also for putting me right. Your explanation does indeed make sense.

Cheers

Bill
