Started this kit a year ago. Tamiya PZ IV J with Eduard Zimm. After doing the paint job and the beginning of weathering it got put away due to work and study commitments. I then got laid off last week, (German GM car plant went on an improptu strike so we had a shortage of parts), so I decided to do a bit more.
Here area few shots taken on my new Nikon CoolPix.
The tank is painted with Vallejo acrylics, Humbrol enamel wash and Tamiya flat earth with polyfilla for the mud. There are few more details to add, such as the turret m/c gun (can't find it), the commander and drybrush the drive wheel teeth silvery, plus any other sugestions.

Looking really nice I'd maybe lightly dust the wheels a little to bend them in with the dirt on the lower hull, andd add some soot around the muzzle.
I take it you work in the Vauxhall plant then?

Yep, work at Vauxhall Ellesmere Port. General Motors Europe held to ransom by Germany. Sorry staff, not the place for political opinion.

Looks good, I like the front, nicely weathered. I agree the road wheels could use some more dust to better match the side of the hull

Hi Pete,
Looks really good! I love the look of the mud
i'm thinking of getting this kit and the Panther kit, is it a nice fun build? any problems encountered?

Thanks Danny,
Very simple build. The Eduard zimm fitted well. Leave the hull side skirt braketry off till the very last, after you've painted the tools.

hi Pete,
Very nice PzkW IV, but the J version had only three return rollers. I like the finish of the tracks, but I would highlight the raised bits that touch the ground with some Citadel Boltgun Metal and/or graphite.
Will you be adding schuerzen? On the J type the Mesh ones where used.
Cheers
Henk

Henk,
I thought only late j's had 3 rollers. Early J's had 4. This is an early J.
The raised contact points of the track were highlighted with a 6B pencil, but I agree they probably need a bit more highlighting. I have got the full Eduard 'plate' type shurtzen that can be fitted to en early J, but I bought them after I had fitted the skirt brackets. Can't decide whether to fit them or not.
