some in-progress pics of airfix's 1:72 flak 88. it came with the tractor but I have a better one from before. The parts in this kit aren't that great, but it was still fun to do. I am by no means done, and am hoping for some criticism on how I can improve on my modelling skills this will probably be part of a small scene later involving a hurricane

For 1/72 scale that's nicely done. It gets very hard at that small scale.
I wuold go back and add a few bits of black wash to a few creases and around some of the detail such as the triangular vision port cover on the front of it and around some details on the wheel units. You may need to go back and add some more pastels/weathering.

Nice job with it.

Ola Spectre

Well that is quite a small representation of the big gun.
I would change a few things and note one too.
First the note.
Try to handle your freshly painted model with care. It appears you have quite a big fingerprint on the barrel (visible in the second pic) If you thin your paint just a little you get a really nice even finish wich makes your model stand out even more.

Next some things I would change to this model.
It appears a bit dark in the pictures. That could be the pictures but it is also very possible you used dark paint. Try to run some filters with white over the large and long areas of the gun. This way you have quite an easy weathering method as the grey appears to be worn/bleached.
After the filter with white you could add shadows by adding thin "pin"washes to nooks and crannies etc. The white filter makes it flat by adding black washes in the deeper parts of the model you create depth again.
I really like the rust/dust on the ends of the legs and on top of the trailer. That`s where water lays when it has rained and that is also where dust gathers. great job. I second Scotts opinion about adding more pastels/dustingpowders.
Give the seats a little brown leathercolour. This is only a minor adjustment but it will make the model more interesting to look at.
One thing I also really like is the hitscore with the Chalkmarks on the gunshield. Great addition of detail.

I`m not courageous enough to do something small like this but you are doing quite a good job. with some minor additions like above you could turn this one in a winner
