Howdy fellow 'Bucket' heads,

Since the good Stormbringer was brave enough to display his very nice M548A1 entry in it's admittedly 'undressed' state for all to see.....and since the head honcho of this here 'Bucket' Campaign is desirious of some 'in-progress' shots, I figured I'd join Stormbringer in showing my entry in all it's naked glory!.......so please avert the children's eyes for a moment.

Here's a basic shot of the Tamiya hull sections after some fairly decent work to both join the regular M113 lower half of the hull, and the upper 'addendum' section of the hull forming the 'seamless' version of the M577.

Here she is....

The M577came in both versions of the hull. The earlier versions had an obvious weld seam between the two hull sections, and the later versions were built so the seam was basically invisible, and (I believe) the even later versions simply had a revised hull side.

As I've said on another thread, this vehicle was originally going to be built as a 'Nam based vignette, with a night laager setting. I am considering instead, of building it as a mobile medical unit.
Reason being, is that the "Red Cross Campaign" is so far out, and I've now got it in my 'craw' to build a medical unit!

What can I say........I get impatient sometimes......

Oops!.....almost forgot. The road wheels have been cleaned and prepped, I just need to give them their base coat. And since the Tamiya M577 kit does not come with an interior, I was going to be somewhat 'creative' in my vignette setting with a large overhead camo net and a lot of 'stuff' piled around the entrance so that a view inside would be difficult.
If I go with the medical unit I would have the choice of scratching an interior for it, or showing it closed up and maybe in transit.......haven't decided yet.

Another thing. If I show it in the night laager setting I could use the kit-supplied tracks, but if I go with the medical depiction I was thinking of using my 'stashed' AFV Club AM tracks.......
They are much more detailed than the Tammy ones.

Take a look......

You can't really tell from the pic, but the AFV track is quite beefier, and better detailed. I just want the extra pesos to count if I'm going to use them.....meaning, I want them to be seen if I use 'em.....

Ah I see it now. Nice looking vehicle but I'm sorry tread not really my cup of (tea) coffee but unique in it's own right.

I see also the similarity to the parts you have built as well so you must know a little bit about scratch building right? :-) :-) :-)

So is it going to be a present day M577 now? I recall seeing a picture of a M577 ambulance on the move during OIF.

Mr Treadhead sir, looks good to me.I would assume from what has been said in previous posts the M577 is/was a multi role vehicle?

Howdy fellas,

Again, thx for taking the time to stop by.

to 'Roo: Hey no worries Dingo bait, this build is for the 'Bucket' Bonanza' Campaign, an M113-based build.
I just wanted to share what little I've accomplished with the 'Bucket' brethren is all .
As to 'scratching'.......I'm just tryin' to make the 'cut'....no pun intended. :-)

to ptruhe: Howdy Bucket Bossman! Actually, as I stated in my first post, I'm not entirely sure whether to stick with building it circa 1971, or change to the more modern version for the medical transport.
I too saw that pic of the OIF ambulance, but I can't seem to find it anywhere now.....

to Stormbringer: The M577's main role has been for the most part a C&C vehicle. But, as any M113 enthusiast will tell you, it has seen multiple roles.

I'll post more pics just as soon as I have them.

Thx again fellas for the interest.

Tread.
