Howdy All,
I just came across this proposed Campaign idea by 'mother' whilst browsing through the Campaign's section to check on the completion date of the "Move It!" Campaign.
Since I find the whole debacle in Somalia most interesting, and have several projects going around in my head about the incident, I thought if we had a place to yak about this upcoming build we might be able to ferret out others out there who are likewise minded.
I'll start.
One of my 'long term' projects has been an homage to the two Delta men who received the Medal of Honour for their sacrifice in that engagement, Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon. It will revolve around the second crash site of Mike Durant's Blackhawk, Super Six-Four.
In fact, the only reason this project is not already completed is because of my dislike for doing figures......it's a weakness, what can I tell ya.
Anyway, I'd love to generate some discussion about both this subject, and the proposed Campaign itself. The heroic efforts that tranpired in Moghadishu played a major role in reaffirming my confidence in the American Soldier. And every single man who participated in that series of fubars and still performed their duties, gets my deepest respect.
Tread.
Oh, one last thing. I thought part of the problem in the 'Mog' was the fact that they didn't have AC gunships?
(Tanks as well).

Tread,
Great idea for Mogadishu campaign and dios. Check out my just completed MH-6J in aircraft section. There is aslo a Balckhawk Down, Super 64 dio here by Pablo Roig Sanchez.
More here:
Super 64
And another by Pete Bacerra titled Leaders, Operators, and Stalkers.
More here: Leaders, Operators, and Stalkers
Those are a few ideas. Yours sounds great too. Can't wait to see it. I also plan on doing another AH-6J and a MH-60K, maybe an MH-60L for the Mog instead. We shall see.

Howdy Gino,
Thx for sharing the Super Six-Four dio by Pablo Roig Sanchez with me. It looks like he did a dandy job of it within a somewhat confined space.....nice stuff.
And about your 'Operator's' dio....I've known about that for some time now, and still just love the thing! Very cool what you did with the superimposed backdrop. It really helps the dio "Pop!"
From what I've garnered from the handful of books I've read on the engagement, I believe that the Blackhawk that went down first (can't remember the designator, Cliff Wolcott's bird), came to rest on it's starboard (pilot's)side. And I thought Durant's Blackhawk came to rest at about a 15 or 20 degree angle?
I have a picture of Super Six-Four a couple of days after the action, but it is already destroyed so it's ravaged pretty good.

Tread,
The Leaders, Operators, and Stalkers dio is not mine, it is by Pete Bacerra. But it is great.
My MH-6J is currently in the aircraft ssection though, check it out.

Hey Tread of all the battles the US played a roll in(modern) I find this most interesting. I can't explain why, i just do. What i find fascinating is all the events leading up to that 3rd day in Oct 93 with the White House and the UN. I have read Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden and In The Company of Heroes by Micheal Durant which has more of the insight than the movie. Anyhow i too plan on doing a few models and a diorama on this subject, one being of the Durant crash site to include the two Delta force heroes, a humvee, 5 ton truck and a wrecked somaili technical. Here are two web sites i find to be the best on this event.

Campaign intrerest is low, maybe the subject or the involvement of the many other campaigns.
