I need some clarification. I take it that just large trucks is not enough, It has to be a tractor trailer of some sort.

Yes it needs to be some type of big semi tuck. It can be military or civilian.

I hear rustling noises from the stack where my Dragon Wagon is. Perhaps elves are getting things organized

The campaign is about to start and I don't have any idea of what to build.
Could anybody suggest me something?

Gaucho,
With the choices being tractor - semi-trailer, some options are:
1/72 (1/76)
Airfix - RAF Recovery set - has the semi truck/trailer
Airfix - Scammel tank transporter
Matchbox - M19 tank transporter
E-Klass - KrAZ Heavy refueller
1/35
Tamiya - Famo + trailer
Tamiya - Dragon wagon
Trumpeter - FAUN
Trumpeter - Chinese tank transport
Trumpeter - SA-2 w/ transport - either of the configurations
1/24
Italeri / AMT / Revell - Many options for civvie semi rigs
These are the ones that popped into mind right away. I'm sure others will contribute as well.
Mika

You can even scratch build or kit bash and convert older models. There were a lot of WW2 trucks that hauled trailers. The trailers are pretty easy to make.

Thanx Dave,
I'll look for a good kit, then I'll ask here if it will be applicable.

Just remember it can be any tractor trailer rig used by any country for hauling military goods and equipment. Can be a contract vehicle like those being used in Iraq now.

I'd like to be in but the only three subjects I can figure out are in order of preference:
- Lancia 3Ro (Truck) + Rimorchio Viberti (Trailer) + M13/40 (medium tank) - AS 1941
- Diamond Rodgers (truck) + Trailer + Tank - Italian Cavalry mid 70s
- M26 + Trailer + Tank - Italian Cavalry mid 50s
Is anyone of these good?
Ciao
Fabio

Dave,
Do you have any info on the WWII tractors and trailers. I would be interested in converting a regular truck to one of these.
I kinda gave up on the MTVR scratch cuz i cant seem to get any good info on it and i wanted to make it as accurate as possible. It seems that its to new to have any good shots of the chassis and other details. Maybe by the time i get around to building it a kit might be out of it.
Matt.

Any one our all are great Fabio. If you build them than we know they will be great. I think I would like to see the first on the most. I have seen the Diamond and the M-26 so the Lancia3RO with the Rimorchio Viberti would be my choice to see.

I've got my IBG/Omega-K KrAZ-255L Soviet fuel truck. At first glance, it comes with 24 tires like my Volvo F12 did. Thankfully it only uses 18 wheels plus the spare.
I did not look forward to dealing with all those little wheels.

Photos of the kit I will build. Comes with Soviet, Czech or DDR (East German) markings, which should I do?

Our Mr. Roo has a rather extensive collection of WW2 trucks in the AFV Refs library https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/index.php?cat=12387 I am looking for other photos for you. I know that the auto car tractor trailer kit was being sold by Great Models. I am not sure which company sells it. WW2 is not my era.

Matt, Here is a realitive easy conversion that can be done to the AFV Club M-35series kit . It can be converted to the M-275 2 1/2 ton tractor and the trailer scan be scratch built

Guys
Would a 1:16 Revell Peterbilt 359 tractor be ok for this campaign? I've had it here for a while and this may be the spur needed to get it built.
Pete
Ps if anyone needs inspiration I know that the PX for Us forces in the UK are supplied using Freightliner trucks painted white and still on US plates.

Will you have the tractor with a trailer? If so go for it.

What trailer is that behind the 275 ?? I'm only familiar with the 6-ton M118/119 series which were single axle.
See "Softskins" Forum. I've just about convinced myself that I can scratch an M818 tractor with an M127 trailer, but I don't want to get over my head time wise. Plus my Dragon Wagon is really making noises. Still thinking.
BTW, I see out campaign is still waiting approval ???

I can't remember the model number of the trailer. I used to haul them iAt Ft. Hauchauca AZ in the mid 60's. We caried troops to the ranges and training site in the mountains at the post. These were purpose built for hauling troops.

Ah, yes, the (in)famous M-Cattle-Car, which appeared in many forms, but mostly just one-half step up from the French 40x8 box car .... :-)
