Well I couldn't hang out any longer. The 29 pieces of the REvell Zero slipped together pretty quickly - so quickly that no in progress pics were taken.
This is one day's progress - built and base painted - needs props and undercart painted and then some weathering & decals.
The story will be that in the mid to late 1930's when Australia was exporting shiploads of pig iron to our WW1 ally Japan (the Prime Minister Bob Menzies was referred to as "Pig Iron Bob") a deal was done whereby Australia was traded a couple of squadrons of the relatively new Mitsubishi Zero. When Australian troops and RAAF units went to the Middle East in 1940 a squadron of Zeros went as well - hence the med. cammo.
Certainly made me look twice after I painted the cammo.
Brian
Phooey stuffed up the image - it is in my galery for those interested.

I like the paint scheme. I did not realize that the RAAF had Zero's. This is a bit of new trivia . Thanks for the info and the photo. Looking forward to seeing more.

Animal this is the first I have heard of it as well. I know we test flew some captured Japanese zeros here as well as a lot of other captured Japanese planes but never a couple of squadrons.
Me thinks it is a figment of Brians imagination

If it is then Brian has a very good imagination for sure. Thinking out side the box is good!!

That Zero is really looking good Brian
You are all ready raising eyebrows with this one which fits with the name of the campaign excellent!
Animal and MrRoo - You are right to question the zero in RAF markings and Med. Camo. It is a figment of Brians' imagination as you so well put it. Our 'Double Take' campaign is just that - aircraft in times, places, and/or markings that they never historically/militarily exhisted or belonged to.
Nice Job Brian and will be looking forward to seeing further pics. That sounds like a quick build but I am still jealous of how fast and far you have gotten
Good modeling,
Wayne

What a neat campaign. I may have to think about joining this one. I haven't built a wingy thing in a very long time.

Very nice work Brian. I really like it. It was very cool too to see that it actually made someone do the 'double take.' I also like your "history."
Great work. Look forward to more.
