Looking forward to it Dave - I've got one solid week of working on "Eve of Destruction" before the Heavy Haulers madness begins!

Seconding that request Gunnie! (Good to see you back around, site has been lacking a bit without ya. Self emplyoment is fun, no?)
I've seen James Lyles' incredible build on this beastie & am eager to see your take on it.
[EDIT]-Sorry for jacking the thread Dave...just got excited when you mentioned Gunnies latest..
Hoping the Maz537 hits stores in time for me to join this build! If not I'll have to see about bashing a SCUD carrier...

Yes - here's a couple of "Eve" sitting on the workbench. I'm still working on the Fighting Compartment - it's not mounted in the photos. I'm working on several M54 series 5-ton trucks all at the same time - some chassis/frames are in the background clutter. I added a basic M54 conversion in the bottom photo.
All of these are/were photographed for a book on converting the Italeri model kit into the M54. That project may or may not come to fruition, however, maybe one of these could make it into the Heavy Haulers Campaign...

Are these your castings? They are very nice and crisp. You could do one with a Dolly rig. We had one unit in Nam that drove these set ups for a while.

Howdy fellas,
to Gunnie: As has been said, mighty glad to hear your voice (typings). You need to stop being such a 'stranger'...
As usual, your GunTruck's are looking superb, as does your presentation of same. Could you be so kind as to provide info on the various parts? Meaning, describe which parts the various colours belong to? Also, is that a 'converted' M54 cab, or a conversion kit part?
to animal: Ooooooooooo, I really like that last picture. Could you elaborate on that example of truck as well for the 'masses'....me included .
And don't tell me......the trailer is completely scratched....right?
Tread.

Thanks the truck was built for the Chief. He was in the Unit in Nam that drove these set ups. The Dollies were "borrowed" from the Navy. There was a need to run split loads to two different locations in the central Highlands and at the time we did not have enough tractors to haul the trailers so the Chief came up with this idea. It was a fun set to drive(not). They would double up the air lines and hook them up to the rear glad hands to attempt and I mean attempt to get the rear trailer brakes to work. The drivers would drop the trailers in route and continue on with the supplies on the M-54 to the forward fire bases.
Yes the M-127 trailers are all scratch built. I use the wheels and leaf springs from the Italeri M-925 kit for the trailer.

Guntruck, your M54 shots look great!
did you use an aftermarket set or did you make it yourself?
if the later apllies, will you offer these to the general public? *shwing shwing*

Thanks fellas! I don't mean to be a stranger...
Tread - these are my castings/parts. I've been working out this conversion for many years. Too long actually. At any rate, the models above were slated for a segment covering converting any of the three Italeri M9xx cargo truck kits. All the dark plastic comes from the Italeri model kit. The rest is GunTruck Studios - and I am not considering marketing them individually or as a set at this time unfortunately.
I enjoy the commission side of the hobby, but mostly because I control what I take on and decide to do. To get into production would not suit my current situation and I'm afraid I'd begin to dislike modeling in the end. So, I tinker with refining the design(s) I have instead. The fun is still there!
