From what I can google on the web the C2 version of the leopard seems to have been painted in basic OD with black markings. Were/are they painted in any other schemes?
C1s I know started OD (they were all OD when I saw them and got to familiarize with them in the early 80s) and got Nato 3 color but were they painted in any other schemes?
Sorry for all the questions I am in a notes type mood and I am compiling information for future builds (I have all the stuff to do a C1 now and I am pretty sure my wife is giving me the C2 conversion for Xmas otherwise shes emailing the folks at Trackjam for some unknown reason lol).
Thanks
Rob

All of the C2s that I've seen here in Western Canada have been OD green, as you've said. All I can offer beside that is a cutout from FSM a few years back of C1s in Germany 1987. It illustrates the original khaki drab and the NATO 3-color scheme. Send an email addy if you'd like this.

Rob,Just finishing up my leopard c2 now!I painted mine tamiya XF-67(nato green) all the picture's I have show them all green! It would apperar to me that od green is way to dark!!!!!!Any how after carefull dry brushing and shading the kit looks awsome! My only problem is i cant figure out how to post photo's yet.The kit goes together well just make sure you pay special attention to the way the ice cleats are stowed on the front glacis plate. If you need any more info on the conversion please feel free to ask.....thanks larry

Sounds like it turned out good I would love to see it. I am glad you posted and I agree the web based shots I have seen its a much lighter color than standard OD.

Rob,
In all cases the turrets are OD. However, as the C2 is actually a mish, ash of C1 hulls and 1A5 turrets plus someother add-ons, There are also some three colour hulls with C2 turrets.

Sounds like there's a few C2's being built!
As previously mentioned, I've also heard that Tamiya's NATO Green, lightened a little bit works good for the current green colour. Definitely not an OD, but a 'brighter' green.
Cheers,
Jim

Larry,
First one I've seen built up. Looks great. i guess I will have to break down and build mine. Maybe we should have a Canadian Armour build to provide a bit incentive! (Campaign Ribbon could be a CD)

I think that you've set something in motion, Paul. I'd even propose July 1st (Canada Day) as an end date..

You'd think after 30 years in the Army, I'd know when to keep my big mouth shut. I'll start a thread in the Canadian Section to float some ideas on build parameters.

Hi
As a rule you would need tro go with a medium green/NATO green as suggested. There were a few odd colour combos when they first came out, but good old green would be your best bet.

Ex-royal, a picture of your C2 tank looks good. It's like a green monster. What paint did you use? Did you get that conversion kit from trackjam?

Violetrock,
Thanks for providing a website that shows many pics of C2. I'm glad I found armorama. It shares wealth of info. and enriches my hobby.
Warhog,
What brand of paint and what color did you use on your c2 kit if that picture I saw is yours.

Warhog,
Thanks for the paint info. I've never done it before. I'll practice and see how it does before I do on actual kits. What kind of oils? Non-colored (clear) oil? Does some hobby stores sell that?
