I know that the Brits were given M4A2s and A4s while the US kept the M4A3s in Europe. Did the Canadians hae the same type of allocation under Commonwealth?

Thanks guys. I was sure the Cannucks received the same types of equipment as the Brits for logistical reasons.

We all know the Sherman was rather weak in the armor department against the big guns of German cats. That is why US tankers would load up with extra steel plates, logs, sandbag, cement, etc.
I have noticed in several different publication that Canadian Sherman tankers seem to prefer using lots of track links covering front to back and top to bottom as extra armor. Was this a widespread practice? Was there a reason they preferred track as opposed to the other improvised methods? Am I generallizing too much from the dozen or so different pics I've seen?

The Canadians used Shermans till the end of the war while the brits & poles received cromwells and for the Brits Comets after the Cromwells. Quartemaster Depot here in Canada has some excellent sheets for Canadian Shermans. My Canadian M4A3E8 from Korea uses one of their products.

What determined when a Sherman was equiped with the CDP track system and does anybody make a set of these in 1/35 scale?
I know that the Shermans in Band of Brothers had CDP tracks and also the Sherman in the Tamiya Sherman CD-ROM has the CDP tracks. They were all of the M4A1 variant if I remember correctly. Is that a Sherman II in Commonwealth terminology?

The Shermans with CDP tracks are actually Canadian Grizzly tanks built in Canada ..Same thing as the M4A1 pretty much. None saw action during the war.
Rick
Only some Sextons(built in Canada) used these tracks in action.

The only ones I've ever heard of, and I've looked, believe me, are available on S-Models Sexton. Unfortunately thay are not selling them seperately.

I have found very little difference between Canadian/Brit figures. Since they were all part of the Commonwelath I think you will get little arguement if you use Brit soldier kits as Canadians
