Ok, heres where im at so far.
I still have a few Q's...
#1, ive been told this is an M4A2, or jsut an M4, so which one is it, and, was this used in the normandy campaign.
Secondly, what would some suitable markings be, simply the white stars?
ok here she is so far
The brass grab handles were a royal pain in the behind to make, and harder yet to egt em to superglue to the bloody tank!
violah, no holes in the mantlet, or melted bits.
Gun was still upside down though, thats been fixed.
So yeah, thats it, and if anyone can tell me exactly what sherman this is, where it was used, and what markings i could ad, id really appreciate it.
cheers

Dave,
This is a complete turn around from the other pics.
This Sherman is an M4 which was used in Normandy by the americans. White Stars are fine for markings.
I like the Black camo stripes on this one too.
Glad we have converted another one to the dark side.............uhhhhhhh should i say the OD side?

Hey Dave I have to agree with Andy, what a big turn around. You have attitude & determination and that's what is going to make this old tank look great. Keep us up-dated

Definitely and M4, or Sherman I to us commonwealth types. We used it more in North Africa and Italy though.
Making a good job out of that poor looking beginning, let us see it again when finished please.

Thanks alot guys.
Im taking photos as i progress, next shot will be after the whole tanks been painted and decals are on, basically itll be completed, except for having been weathered and had the tracks put on.
So im guessing tommorow.
Now a question, should i leave her realitively clean, make her Muddy, or dusty? i cant decide i need opinions.
Cheers

Did you drill holes for the grab handles? Handles are much easier to glue to a hole rather than straight to the styrene surface.
That camo looks sweet! Is that the airfix 1:76 kit?
(I have built the airfix sherman and it says 1:72 on the box, but it's actually 1:76 )
Post some more pics when it's ready.

G'day Eetu, did'nt drill holes, couldnt find a drill bit small enough, that brass wire is very very fine.
But i did scratch the surface a little with a pin just to make it a little easier to stick.
Just had a look around the web, its the Airfix kit.
Cheers mate, its nearly done so keep an eye out for the next lot of pics

Looking better and better. I think a couple of black or dark brown washes and some light dust (mist on tamiya buff, or similar) should do the trick. I have seen references to the black camo stripes on tanks serving in Italy, not sure where else they might have been used.
